Why is discourse so bad here?
Read the danluu article for details on the Discourse thing. They target the people who make important decisions, who generally have recent iPhones, and consider every other phone trash and irrelevant.
My conclusion is that is made by trash people, so it performs like trash. Thank god uBlock filters out their bloat.
Wtf? So this is why people complain so much about it. It also has animations that give some people headaches.
Ouch.. are there any good alternatives?
I don't use Discourse myself, but if you're putting comments onto a website, something like Cactus Comments may be interesting if you want to add a comment section to a website and stick to the fediverse/federation concept.
Im sure there are more traditional alternatives, I just have no experience in this field.
Thank you, but I was talking about the forum aspect of it. A place of formal discussion.

Thought it would be better than at least reddit
Smaller userbase, mostly taken from a specific subset of users. You tend to get extreme views amplified because of that, I think.
