The size of mini (HP) or micro (Dell) PC is around 1L. One level up in size is SFF.

What are the pros and cons of small form factor PC compared to mini PC?

Some of the cons of SFF are dust collection on components, and being hard to ship, especially in airplane.

Which one do you recommend?

Recently I've been using the computer less with headphones on and this adds to the annoying sound of the motherboard chipset fan, I can't get it to spin less, it's driving me crazy, does anyone have any advice?

Specs:

Motherboard: Asus rog strix x570-i gaming

Processor: Ryzen 3800X

Cooling: Corsair H80i V2

Case: phanteks evolv shift 2 (the side with the video card has mesh, while the other has glass, unfortunately i have not found the second mash panel as i cannot find it online)

Video card: RTX 3070 EVGA XC3

I'm thinking of buying the powercolor 7900xt and was wondering if it can fit in my case (nzxt h1 v1)

Hello everyone,
I am soon going to build a homelab server, with efficiency in mind.
What size PicoPSU would suit this build? I have done some guestimation and gotten 180w, but that should be above whats actually needed as the estimations should be very high.
Just to be clear it is in total 64gb ram and 8tb sata ssd.
Thank you in advance.

Does anyone have any advice/photos for how it's done? I can take a photo of what I've got at the moment but I haven't done any cable management whatsoever. Feels like a nightmare in this case, especially since there isn't a side panel on the opposite side as far as I can tell.

Adding onto this, I have an M.2 slot on the back of my mobo. Would I need to take it out entirely to access the SSD with this case?

I really like how the case looks and temps are great but I can't seem to figure these two things out at all.

I have a 7900xtx, ryzen 5600x, and an Asus ROG Strix X570i. I have the latest bios updates on the mobo and drivers for my GPU using AMD software. I just recent enabled this feature on my mobo, (resizable bar/SAM) and now I fear my spontaneous video issues are being caused by this.

I'm going to disable everything again tomorrow once my computer lets go of what ever has locked out the video, but I wanted to ask if anyone else experienced similar with the same components.

Haven't seen this discussed anywhere yet.

An air-cooled A4-H2O user with:

  • Intel 13400f + AXP90-X47 Full copper + Noctua fan and duct
  • Sapphire Pulse RX 7900 XT
  • Corsair SFX750
  • 2 Noctua fans on the top for exhaust

I know there are some situations when in A4 having the PSU fan facing inside can work better.

In my case I have an RX 7900 XT and its backplate gets really HOT, which seems like expected from my findings. But with back of the PSU really close to the backplate it gets pretty toasty in there.

Just flipping the PSU to space out the heated sides a little bit does not seem like a good idea, because the PSU fan will be taking all the hot air from the backplate.

However I could flip the fan as well so that it exhausts the air from the PSU onto the backplate. I feel like it should help with airflow behind the GPU and have the hot air being pushed out more easily.

Since the PSU does not get as hot as the backplate it should also help to cooldown the backplate, even if just a little bit.

I'm planning to add an intake fan on the bottom, right under the PSU to help get some colder air in.

And since the PSU can only take the air in from the top side, I may have to figure out some sort of duct work so that it mostly gets the air from the side panel

Anyone tried this before?

Any concerns on flipping the PSU fan in general?

At the moment I can only find the Dan A4-SFX and A4-H2O that would arrive within a month where I live. It would be a work computer, for development, rendering, and audio processing, as well as some simulations, and for some gaming on my spare time.

My budget is flexible, but I'd like something small that I can transport and power efficient since I live in a warm climate. With the A4-H2O I could fit an RTX 4090 and a Ryzen 9, but it would be bigger and produce a lot of heat, but maybe it's better. I honestly don't know. I'm not picky at all about performance.

Both cases cost the same here and will arrive in around the same time. I'm new to building SFF PC but I've been looking at it for several years, so I honestly have no idea what to look at. What do you think?

I just built my new pc in a long while in which I aimed for portability as the main priority while still having great performance. I stupidily chose i7-13700k while never even look at AMD's CPU or i5, which was a grave mistake. My CPU always go straight up to 100 degrees while benchmarking and getting score as best at 25000 on Cinebench which is equal to i5-13600k without thermal throttling. And my CPU sucks since it can be undervolted to only -0.100 V and it still crashes once in a while. My ambient temperature is 26-27 degrees (I live in a very hot country, to reach this ambient temp I needed to turn on the AC). I'm using AXP-90x47 CPU cooler with a well 3D printed fan duct + 1x25mm case fan and 1x15mm slim fan both placed as exhaust at the bottom of the case). I should have gone for AMD's cpu like 7800x3D which is much more efficient. Now I have paid more for the same performance as i5 and even risk overheating components on the motherboard.

Has anyone the exact same build? How is your thermal performance?

(For those who tell to care less about benchmark score and more on real gaming performance, yes it reaches 100 degrees on CPU intensive games like Star Citizen.. as soon as the CPU utilization hits 50% then it's 100 degrees)

Note: I'm using Thermalgrizzly Kryonaut and I'm pretty sure I applied it nicely

Since I was introduced to this article, I’ve been wondering how the hot cpu temps might affect sff aircooling:

What is your opinion or experience?
