I am going to study at uni.lu in September and am looking at several places to lease. Is there anything I should keep in mind? Are there any dangerous areas in the commune?

Wouldn't it be possible to embed 1mm heat pipes or a vapor chamber to improve the heat spread for the more power hungry CPUs?

It surely will be more expensive than a solid piece of copper but for the more hungry CPUs like the Ryzen 9, a higher heat dissipation could lead to a higher TDP, more stability and better temps.

I have rented a car in Luxembourg and received a fine, I don’t speak Luxembourgish or French so I’m not sure I understand the fine can anyone assist me? In translation to English and what it actually means, the figures make it look like I haven’t sped but it may be lost in translation.

I will print the parts of my confusion below.

l'infraction: Inobservation de la limite de vitesse de 90 km/h en dehors d'une agglomération par un autre véhicule :

  • le dépassement étant inférieur ou égal à 20 km/h

Limitation vitesse: 90 km/h Vitesse measuree: 94km/h Vitesse Retinue: 91km/h

My rental company has already paid the fine and there are admin fees incurred because of that so I’m wondering if I’m screwed here and should expect a bunch more fines through.

Moien everybody!

I'm currently enrolled in a master's in finance and have the option to specialize in one of the following areas:

  • Sustainability;
  • Banking;
  • Corporate Finance;
  • Business and Data Analytics;
  • Financial Markets;

I'll be going to Luxembourg after graduation as my family is living there. Unfortunately, I'm still not sure what exactly I want to do after finishing my degree.

As such, I figured it would perhaps be helpful to get some local insights to help me decide. Which specialization do you personally think has the most potential in Luxembourg's job market? And which one, in your opinion, would you recommend I choose and why?

I know it is a very personal decision, but I'm hoping your answers and insights could help fill in the gaps and allow to see a little bit clearer.

I appreciate any insights, personal experiences, or guidance you can provide.

Thank you in advance!

Let's say I purchased a property in Luxembourg and then decided to leave Luxembourg and work in another country. I understand then I need to pay taxes in Luxembourg only for income earned in Luxembourg. So in this case the real estate in Luxembourg provides a rental income of 32k gross for the full year. How are the taxes calculated on this rental income?

If I use a tax calculator like calculatrice.lu, it mentioned that I need to pay pension, health care etc. which I am not sure I need to pay given I am not residing in Luxembourg. I think I just need to pay certain taxes but it's not clear how exactly these are calculated for non residents. Can someone share some light on this ?

Hi all,

Bought myself a Roccbox pizza oven and can't find propane tanks compatible with the two connectors that I have.

I've been to three gas stations (Q8 and Shell) and all their gas tanks had the same threaded connection type.

Where I come from there are 3 types of quick connector and you select a "brand" of bottled gas that is compatible with your fitting.

Where can I find tanks (smaller than 12 kgs, preferably) with a wirder range of connection types? Do they sell them at like Auchan or Cactus? Or will all connections be the same and I need an adapter?

Thanks.

Hello! My girlfriend and I are staying in Luxembourg for the week, and today we made a trip to strassbourg in France by TGV. We just saw that our train back has been delayed, and now we are too late back home for the regular busses to take us to our destination.

Our apartment is in walking distance of the shopping mall Cloche d'or in gasperich, Lux. What nightly transport, be it a night bus or taxi, should we take from the train station to our destination? Im asking this because we cant really make up if busses are available that take us within walking distance of our place of stay.

Any advice you can give is very much welcome, thank you for making our Luxembourg experience even better!

Hello good people, I am having a hard time understanding the child maintenance payment after separation with my ex (we weren't married). We agreed on a certain amount as we both were residents in Germany (I still live in Germany (Trier) while my ex and kids went on to live in Luxembourg, she it from Luxembourg obviously). We based the amount on the Düsseldorfer Tabelle, I did also verify the calculation with a German lawyer. The issue in question is, I don't think most of the money goes to the kids, I mean most if not all of their clothes are the same (nothing new, and if, it would be 2nd hand and extremely cheap. I do believe in circular economy, but from time to time kids need decent clothing), no new toys, or cheap ones... etc, that wasnt the case when we lived together, the other day I toke them over the weekend and I felt like shit seeing them with old ragged shoes; I went on to buy them everything they need. I work and I pay taxes in Germany not in Luxembourg, and my income is relatively high compared to my fellow Germans. I understand that this part is to ensure that the kids do live within same standards as their parents. While I don't have problem paying this amount to my kids, using that money for my ex's benefits feels like a breach of trust. What can I do in this case to make sure that this money goes to the kids benefits?. (I don't feel like she wants to work, she always complains about the little one, and I offered to have him while she is working until we find a day care for him)

Extra info: I tried to help her as much as possible, I paid extra till my 2nd kid is 2y old. We agreed I pay her the extra, and she will register in job center, that never happened, my understandingof the law in Luxembourg is very limited. . I paid the Kindergeld for few months as the process is taking longer than expected, I also paid for half of her car. I did my best to cover within what I have and within my limits, I did so depelting all of my resources. She tried, to get more money, but I just can't pay her. I am migrant, outside EU and from time to time I need to support my family back home (COVID and the war hit harder outside of EU than within).

Edit: I am not asking about means to reduce child maintenance, I am asking if there is a way to make sure the amount goes to the kids. As by law, this is a child support payment.

Dear All

I am facing a difficulty with my landlord. The expenses are 250 euro per month, 3k per year for 55 sqm.

There are 8 apartments in the building, which means 24k expenses per year!!!!.

Anyway the last few months , there are a number of works taking place in the building, eg, there was a heating marching in the laundry , it was on for 1 month unstoppable, as there was an issue with humidity. Also . he is building two new apartment in the top floor and the workers are using electricity the last few months.

I asked to exclude all those electricity charges so far no reply .

This happened two months ago, now for some reason there are no works i guess because of August holidays or something like that.

How do you recommend me to proceed?

THanks

Where can I look up what the work and safety regulations at work are? Like I have no idea where to ask my questions or whom to anonymously contact if there are safety issues that I see at my work place / industrial environment.

To give you guys an idea. In our factory the workers don't work yellow jackets, except when we have important visitors. Then they drive around with forklifts but don't have any lines on the floor to indicate where people can walk and where not. I feel like it's just a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured. Instead of having a mirror to check they just honk and then come flying out of the shelf alley.

I've seen people put a heavy palet / liquid tank in front of the firehose box so in case of a fire, nobody could have accessed it without a forklift. I know the drivers are very careful but it just takes some visitor (sometimes even kids) to run around and get hit by a forklift.

I love the company but ffs I hate seeing some of those risks on a daily basis. Btw if I was in the position for it I would have changed 20 things already but I don't even know if I should approach my CEO or HR or Management about it. I know they would like to get feedback but at the same time I kind of don't want to experience retaliation. Especially since I don't have to drive an hour to get to my workplace each day.

Any ideas where I can find what is mandatory and where to go or whom to contact to report such issues?

Hello All,

It's been a long time I asked any questions for myself or for '"a friend". ;-)

Please I would like to know how to identify my Tax ID and on what document to look for it and find it.

Also, does it change from year to year or under what circumstances would it change?
