Hi all,

I know this question has been asked before and I went through a lot of threads posted on this topic earlier. Maybe I missed it, or the comments are deleted.

However I am not able to actually find the link from where I can make the advance tax payments. Right now i’m being taxed at class 2.

Can someone please point it out to me, or if its on myguichet?

So I’m 19 and tired of going out and taking photos by myself. I want to explore new locations and meet new people, which I find is really hard to do here in Luxembourg..

So, i' planning on living in Luxembourg but I'm kinda worried about the taxes here. Like, are they high or are they low?

(I'm kinda dumb and I don't know how taxes work so...yeah.)

Do you know in which parts of Luxembourg people foraging mushrooms? I’ve tried already in Ludelange’s and Strassen’s forests and without any success

I do not need coordinates but at least directions etc.

Hi all,

I was parked at friends place, arrived at around 23.15 and stayed at her place until around 00.20. I came outside to leave, and found the place where my car had stood an hour prior completely empty. No police notes, no signage, not a single trace that it was ever there. Assuming it stolen, we called the police non-emergency line, who redirected us to 113, who then (very rudely) redirected us to another number. At this point I find out that the car has been towed to 1 rue Marie curie (similar address to the police station in bonnevoie). Asking for any further information all lead to “I dunno, go there and find out”. My friend then explained that the neighbor, in front of whose house I was parked, has a history of screaming at courier drivers for waiting in front of his house, as well as other anti-social behavior regarding his spot.

I assume the car is now in some impound at one of the four addresses listed under “rue Marie curie”. My plan is to go to all of them and find my car tomorrow. This all however extremely bizarre/fishy to me (car was not illegally parked, they were able to get a tow truck out, steal my car and get out of there cleanly all within the span of an hour). This is my first time having to deal with this kind of situation, so if anyone has any experience with this I’d greatly appreciate some help.

I need to settle a weird quirk I found in Luxembourg.

You guys really seem to be against using microwaves for anything at all, but I've yet to get a satisfiing reason as to why that's a thing here.. So tell me, what is your reason for refusing to use a rather convenient tool like that?

Quick one but how long is the practical driving test in Luxembourg?

Hello all,

I wanted to ask you all if you know of anyone who'd be quite adept at soldering a single small SMD resistor and a dozen larger capacitors cleanly on an old motherboard.. It's for a voltage mod to overclock a retro system higher and to refurbish the existing power components.

Unfortunately my skills are quite lacking, which is made worse by shaky hands, so I could use some help.

Thanks!

Hellooo,

I wanted to ask for advice for good piercing Studios! My boyfriend wants some piercings but we don't know who's good.

I thought some people here might have recommendations, and might even know some prices :) would probably (he's not sure yet) be a septum, conch, helix, maybe eyebrow piercing

Thanks for any advice 😊

So this is extremely weird and I'm still dumbfounded that this happened in Lux.

So my gf went to Lidl in strassen, usually when we go we that that street between the hospital and the Rue D'Arlon. When she was coming back as soon as she crossed the corner, someone in a bicycle pushes her over and takes the cart, she manages to run after this guy until the bus station in the roundabout of the hospital but then loses him, and people just ignored what happened.

Is this a normal thing? I wouldn't expect it in Luxembourg and even if it were to happen I wouldn't expect it in a place like this since that's a fairly calm neighborhood.

We'll file a report, nor that we'll get the cart back but it might be a metric and the government might see that they need to step up in security, they're trying to crack down on petty crime right now.

If anyone that reads this saw what happened a d has any info I would really appreciate it.

And if the crazy dude that did this is reading the post I hope you choke on the oregano

Hi everyone,

I will be coming to Lux soon, I am in talks for houses and wanted some info.

  1. Can I register at the commune (Munsbach) with a sublease agreement? (Private room)
  2. Is it required that the agreement be registered at the commune, or it holds validity also if not registered. Would it make any difference if it is registered or not from a tenant's point of view?

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Has anyone else suffered a 2,5% increase in their latest internet invoice?

My contract is for 2 years, but they have increased it anyway, without prior notice, because of latest indexation.

My service provider is LoL.

Thanks

Left Party claims there are 20k vacant apartments in the country. The amount looks quite high, do not you agree. Whatever is for renting, it disappears immediately.

An interesting comment in the website:

" Vacant properties should be taxed based on the average tax income for the goverment per sqm in the area."

Thoughts?

It seems a constant theme that people say the weather here is bad, which I take to mean cold and wet.

As someone who really struggles with heat to the point of getting SAD in the summer, I would beg to disagree.

From at least mid-May to mid-September, it is at the very minimum 20-25 degrees almost every single day. Sometimes this starts from mid-April and can go on until early October. At the very least it is like this for 4 months a year, sometimes 5. Even on what I call a "respite day" like today, it is still not cold, you can wear shorts/skirt and short sleeves easily.

Beyond that, barring the customary weird week or two like in late July, it is very common for it to hover around 30 degrees for weeks at a time, with zero rain and little or no cloud.

For the latitude and altitude that we are at, I would say the weather is absolutely not crap here.

Hello, I am a belgian looking for a job in luxembourg for 4 months now, I am working in import-export, because of that very specific sector I send between 1 and 3 resume per day.

Problem is that I never receive any news from 85-90% of the company, is it the norm in luxembourg?

Thank you.

Hello I live in ana apartment in a building with other apartments and I have a private large garden (> 180m2). I am planning to get a goat as an animal and keep him in the garden along with building appropriate shelter for him (as they don’t like getting wet:) Goats are very friendly and smart animals :) I already checked with my commune and they are ok with goats in the garden.

Anyone have any experience on farms that would be willing to part with 1-2 goats ? Ideally I would be interested in Pygmy goats (smaller breed) or other non horned goats are fine.

Thanks

I registered myself as a job seeker recently and Yesterday got "Fiche de retenue d'impôt" in my myguichet. It's almost similar to my last Fiche de retenue d'impôt with my previous employer. Does it mean, I will get the unemployment benefit?

I hope you're all doing well. I recently had the incredible opportunity to spend some time working in your beautiful country during my vacation, and I fell in love with Luxembourg's charm, culture, and the warm community. The experience left me considering the idea of relocating for work, and I was wondering if any of you could share your insights and tips on making the move.

As a British/American, I'm quite new to the whole process of relocating to another country, especially one as unique as Luxembourg. From navigating paperwork to finding a suitable place to live, I'm sure there are many things I need to consider that might not be obvious at first glance. Any advice or pointers you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

I'm also curious about the job market and the average pay for various professions in Luxembourg (currently a legal secretary in law school). While I'm passionate about the prospect of living and working there, I do want to ensure I can have a comfortable life without constantly worrying about finances. If any of you could share insights on what a decent/average pay range is in Luxembourg, I'd be incredibly grateful. (Jobs advertise with the pay range where I’m from)

Additionally, if there are any cultural nuances or day-to-day aspects of life in Luxembourg that you think a newcomer should be aware of, please feel free to share. Whether it's about local customs, social etiquette, or even the best spots to unwind after work, I'm all ears!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post. I'm excited about the possibility of joining your community and contributing positively to the vibrant tapestry of Luxembourg. Your guidance would mean the world to me as I embark on this potential new chapter in my life.

Looking forward to your valuable advice and insights!

Hello.

Is it correct that TV by cable will be closed from 2024 ? (to be replaced by TV via Internet obviously).

Bye Bruno
