ne is my preferred CLI text editor... others would be: ranger, rtorrent, irssi, git, btop, and others that are not coming to mind right now..

Same.. its been 11 months. Best friends for over 15 years and then cancer wrecked her far too slowly.

As others have noted.. it is a balancing act between having the room for it and what you value enough to spend that space on.

For me, I don't buy a whole lot of music, but when I do I insist on CD's or vinyl and then I rip them. All the ease of digital along with a built in hard backup.

FOSSCAD anyone? (lm.madiator.cloud)

Wondering how comfortable Madiator would be with a FOSSCAD type sub hosted on his instance? FOSSCAD = Free and Open Source firearm 3d printing and building.

lol.. nah.. I was just trying to get a ball rolling... but apparently I had dropped that ball oh so many months ago. ;]

Lets all grab a 730 pixel wide clip of something we're working on and compete to have it used as next month's banner art for this community!

Just make a post in the community and whoever gets the most votes will have their art used as the community banner for the following month.

I haven't been able to find much on the specs needed for this image, but I think it needs to be 730 px wide and any number of pixels high. I think something narrower like 50-100 px is good. I'm guessing that png format will work well enough.

Please let me know if you have any ideas or questions. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's work.

Imagine if Verizon ‘defederated’ from T-Mobile because of a few bad actors.

happens with email servers all the time

I think it is fair to also consider the excessive centralized moderation like the kind we criticize on reddit to be a part of the user experience. Those similar problems that only affect specific instances, but not all, is a part of the user experience here with lemmy.

To be fair, email works the same way and there are a number of domains that different email server admins block to avoid spam or for any reason they choose. I know some smaller ones block gmail and others because the gigantic amount of spam they send. I also recall the relatively quaint days of Ukraine drama in 2014 had motivated a local university to block my email because my web/email host was located in Ukraine.

Sure, there are times when individual server admins will muck things up, but rarely does my email not make it to where I want it to go. My point is that I think that this is being made into a bigger issue than it is.
