I'm so happy that the franchise is alive and well. We're even getting both the Western and Japanese takes on the series at the same time.

Back when I was a kid they had all of the VHS movies at the counter of my local video rental and I rented a new one each week. Eventually got a copy of Destroy All Monsters and watched that obsessively too.

The Substance might be the best film according to the critical/audience consensus. Personally did think it was very good but I might have enjoyed Alien Romulus more subjectively as a big fan of that franchise.

Longlegs was style over substance for me. I think it does tell quite an engaging story about childhood trauma but the dialogue in the 2nd half does a lot of undermine all the good build up.

So the official sources say this poor gentleman had passed out in the street, then got decapitated by a passing coach which pulled his head off via the wheel arch.

I was hearing earlier rumours on whatsapp that criminals had thrown the head from a moving car in order to send a warning about drug debts... seemed far fetched even if Dumbiedykes is just down the road.

Uncensored images of both the head and the headless corpse are doing the rounds on snapchat. Also CCTV footage of a group of drunk people who appear to play with by picking it up, and then one of their party "teabagging" it. Reminded me of Tropic Thunder when Steve Coogan's character dies but the other characters all think it's a prank.

Still Wakes The Deep was a fun Lovecraftian horror from this year. Unique setting on a North Sea oil rig with an authentic Scottish cast. Also didn't overstay its welcome at roughly 4 hours length; I believe it's on GamePass.

He’s a weirdo on mastodon too tbh. Very keen on blocking, no real interactions aside from self promotion.

Typically I don’t use a DE. I’ll go for dmenu + dwm usually if I only want a WM. I find the default bindings and behaviour for the tiling is the most ergonomic when comparing it to other WMs like i3.

When I do have to get a DE setup then I’ll use XFCE because I like how it stays out of the way and I find it easy to customise.

Hey wait a minute I resemble this strawman

Personally quite like reading things in other languages, just like a paragraph or so, and then checking my comprehension afterwards with an online translator. Only really partially works for Western European languages though!

On balance I reckon you should keep it that way. I somehow got dragged along to see Epic Movie when it first came out in cinemas and it is the worst film I've ever seen by a country mile.

Scary Movie 3 was my personal favourite. Not sure the Wayan Bros have a lot left in the tank (even if White Chicks was a guilty pleasure film).

Sounds like your aunt was projecting from what little you've said.

Is it not a timed exclusive on PS5? I don't think I can buy it on my Series S at the moment

This is spectator so they are taking the most extreme right wing viewpoint on Labour's recent policies to improve the nation's health. I disagree with how they characterise it for the most part but they do seem to put their finger on the kind of authoritarian impulses inside the party. Definitely think the author misses the mark with their badly thought out/unsupported angle about it being patronising class politics.

I was too young to take in much when John Major was in power but remember New Labour with Blair/Brown very well. They were also keen to make similar kind of policies that were - for lack of a better phrase - nanny state-ish. I found it interesting thinking about that legacy.

Should also mention that both parties tend towards these types of policies. I suspect the civil service are keen on them and they test well in focus groups.

Article is paywalled so will post it in comments.

Let's hope for the return of the sausages

If Digital Underground were able to make more consistent albums then they'd be my favourite group ever. The best tracks are unreal but then the skits, etc. drag the whole thing down on repeated listens.

This could have major repercussions for the game as we know it. The RFU has already reduced the amount of contact allowed in the grassroots of the game. Will the product we all love survive a legal tsunami if this ends in a court ruling?

I always wonder if you could get players to sign away their rights to sue but I'm pretty certain that would not be legally enforceable, alongside being totally exploitative.

Old but gold.

I find The National frequently embarassing as a Scottish person. Enjoying seeing them squirm here.

This is upsetting to see. I've got a friend with MS and I hope she is not prevented from claiming assistance if (or when) she needs it due to this case causing more stringent checks on claimants.

At least this lady got the jail.

I think Wes might be right here but this is going to cause consternation amongst groups who were hoping that Labour might take a more liberal approach to LGBT issues than the tories.
