The new website https://getmonero.dev now serves unofficial Monero developer and user documentation.

It has been forked from MoneroDocs.org, which unfortunately no longer serves content.

The previous content has been preserved, and GetMonero.dev is accepting new contributors:

https://github.com/MAGICGrants/getmonero.dev

Contributing is easy! Simply make markdown files in this folder:

https://github.com/MAGICGrants/getmonero.dev/tree/master/docs

Then, open a pull request. When merged, the changes will be deployed to the universe.

Please help us improve Monero developer and user documentation. Thanks!

Thank you to serhack for the domain.

Today is the last day to apply to vote and to announce your candidacy for the MAGIC Monero Fund committee.

The MAGIC Monero Fund is a committee that oversees funds for the betterment of the Monero community. Similar to the Monero CCS, it fundraises and issues grants via MoneroFund.org.

The MAGIC Monero Fund is a part of MAGIC Grants, a 501(c)(3) charity (magicgrants.org).

This committee election is extremely important. Having a committee that can focus on the betterment of the Monero community allows for easier security audits, research projects, and development.

The link to apply to vote or to run for the two currently open committee positions is below:

https://magicgrants.org/Monero-Fund-2024-Election/

If you wish to make a tax-deductible donation to the MAGIC Monero Fund, today is also the last day to get a deduction for 2023. You can donate with XMR, BTC, or credit/debit card on MoneroFund.org.

Thank you!

Voter applications and committee candidate announcements are now available for the MAGIC Monero Fund committee. Here is the election schedule:

  • 5 December 2023: Committee and voter nominations open
  • 31 December 2023: Committee and voter nominations close
  • 6 January 2024: Voting opens
  • 20 January 2024: Voting closes
  • ~23 January 2024: Election results announced
  • 31 January 2024: Newly elected members join the committee

There are 2 committee member seats up for election. Incumbents are allowed to run again.

To apply to be a voter or committee member, and to see the expectations, please click here.

Being an active committee member of the MAGIC Monero Fund is one of the most impactful ways to give back to the Monero community.

To contact the existing MAGIC Monero Fund committee, please email [email protected]. To contact the MAGIC board, please email [email protected].

If you wish to make a tax-deductible donation to the MAGIC Monero Fund before the end of the year, you can donate in cryptocurrencies and fiat at MoneroFund.org.

We will probably incorporate Serai first, then revisit atomic swaps.

We think so too! Thanks for using Cake Wallet!

It'll take a good amount of work, but yes, great idea.

We are excited that Cake Wallet beta users can now store Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens, such as the USDT, USDC, and DAI stablecoins, directly in their wallet.

This is an important step forward for us. The Ethereum ecosystem is ever-evolving and growing. By adding support to Ethereum, Cake Wallet users now have access to a broad ecosystem of decentralized exchanges, NFT markets, tokens, and so much more.

The custom balance amount will not persist after they discontinue the service. You'll have to write that down manually unfortunately.

Sadly, you can only guarantee that fees will stay at the same amount (or drop in your example) if we assume infinite scaling. Suppose 10 TB of transaction data shows up and wants to be mined into the next block. Fees only stay at the same value if you widen the block size to 10 TB. If you didn't, then some people would be willing to pay more than others to get into the next block.

Technology will keep improving, but I don't think Monero scaling should allow a long-term increase that's on the optimistic side of these projections.

Bitcoin clearly still works and has demand despite the limited block size, so Monero should grow more conservatively than it currently does after it permits as many transactions per hour as Bitcoin.

I see the dynamic size as a downward pressure against high fees. I don't see high fees at peak times as a failure, like some people see them.

Cake Wallet Linux is in beta, and the build instructions are currently a little hard to find. Until the branch for Linux is merged into main, you can find the build instructions here:

Happy building!

The forthcoming Serai DEX is the best, risk-mitigated approach at this to date.

It's not risk-free, but the native XMR is held in multisig wallets, and multisig wallet holders need to bond assets to qualify.
