'I want to go to school but can't afford it' isn't a sufficiently good excuse to join the imperial murder machine.

Also, without 'cooks, janitors, stores distributors, technicians, mechanics' the military wouldn't function, so these people may never pull a trigger but they're still complicit in the killing.

Everyone also seems to be missing the house of lords lol. Lifetime appointments (not elected), spots for the church of england, and a whole punch of hereditary peers. Amazingly democratic upper house there.

That reddit thread is full of people (hopefully not teachers) insisting that it's actually a parent's job to teach their children to read. Ignoring the 'fuck poor or undereducated parents' attitude on display, I have to ask, what's the point of early education then? My first few years of school were all about literacy and numeracy skills. If these aren't the responsibility of the education system at that age, then what on earth is? I guess it's just daycare to these people...
