Meh.... The fact that I can log on after a while and read all of messages sent before I left makes some of the async-supporting chat applications more appealing to me.

Another option: Gmail supports the "+" operator. If your email address is: [email protected]

You can use an email like [email protected]

To sign up for eBay. Now you can filter all of the garbage sent to that address easily! Bonus, you get to see who's selling your data which is always frustrating and entertaining.

Weird bugs in my lemmy client...

Deleted comment was:

In what context are you asking about the definition of a "member"? SDF has lots of different memberships. Lemmy, shell accounts, Mastodon, etc.

For general questions about lemmy, you might have lots of luck over in https://lemmy.ml/c/asklemmy

I think the "make a donation" button on the homepage will work to support pretty much anything the org needs. I've used it before for Mastodon upgrades and when they needed cash for them MetaArpa cluster upgrades.

Did you all see that SDF Chatter is listed as the first recommended Lemmy instance in this popular Awesome List?

Now supports "mark read on scroll" if you like to keep the Frontpage fresh. So good!

One reason we care about this is because we can choose to or to not purchase small fractions of these public companies and become partial owners. This information is useful in making investment decisions.

They are separate applications with separate logins. Go ahead and sign up for a new account on mastodon.sdf.org.

Curious because I'm new.... What makes the instance semi-private? Is it just that the instance is small, or is there a setting that makes finding things harder for other instances?
