Imagine I have two choices: end world hunger, or end world hunger and kick a puppy. If I choose to end world hunger but also kick a puppy...well I'm kinda a dick, right? Ultimately I did a very good thing ending word hunger, so on balance, my actions are "net positive." But the choice I actually made was to kick a puppy.

Now, I need to eat. So I have a choice: eat yummy food and don't kill an animal, or eat yummier food and do kill and animal. The choice I'm effectively faced with is, "kill an animal for better taste."

It's totally up to you to decide if that is a good choice for you personally.

If course it's not always so simple, and there are financial, cultural, and health reasons that complicate this. But for some folks (like myself) that's kinda how I view it.

Property can take a while to close

offer to title in under 30 days is on the quick side.

Of course, you could probably close very fast if you offered 100M cash on a 10M property...

What's you network setup? Is there any chance that it's connecting through he Internet instead of locally? For example: JF proxies through a VPS, and you're connected to the VPS address instead of the local address of the server?

My favorite SMBC Venn joke leaves the diagram to the imagination: https://www.smbc-comics.com/?db=comics&id=1917#comic

I just got one of the cheap Chromecast+Google TV things and I'm pleasantly surprised by the Jellyfin app.

UI is definitely sluggish on home screen.

That's insanely fast. 30mph on a bike (flat, no wind) is real work. And that's with proper gearing and, you know...wheels.

...unless it's an N64 controller, and you just got blueshell'd in Mario Kart/Oddjob'd in GoldenEye, in which case that's perfectly normal behavior

You can imagine what happens next 🙄

One of the nice things about post-pandemic life where I am is the normalization of wearing masks if you're sick, vulnerable, or just feel like it. Someone shows up at work

or on public transportation

with a mask and no one bats an eye.

(I'm in the USA in a very blue, VHCOL area, YMMV...)

I'm saying that the folks saying "nothing bad happened under Trump" may be a few fries short of a happy meal.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (5 children)

~~That happened under Biden. Sure, it's a direct consequence of Trump's presidency...but this sort of causal reasoning may well be too advanced for the folks parroting this inane content to comprehend.~~

Edit: what I was trying to say (apparently unsuccessfully...) was that the kind of person who thinks nothing bad happened under Trump probably won't acknowledge that Roe vs. Wade being overturned was a direct consequence of Trump. Which is stupid

in addition to the "acute" damage that Trump did, the ongoing damage being done from his judicial appointments is arguably the most damage that he has (and will continue to) do.

The next crowdstrike mistake could happen at any time...

Sounds like the tagline to an action movie.
