Seems to scroll fine for me on my Don't Be Evil Pixel 5. Is your phone more than, say, 4-5 years old?

I'm not sure it's the most bergamot flavour, but I've always really liked the Sadaf earl grey loose leaf tea: https://www.sadaf.com/products/sadaf-special-blend-earl-grey-tea-44-6150

Do you have any book recommendations for learning more about this? Really anything about how the world bank or IMF function as an arm of imperialism would be much appreciated.

I think it's probably just us-foreign-policy guessing that they're gonna disrupt the event to encourage him to stop the genocide. Better to just kick out the dirty brown people than be confronted yet again on supporting and encouraging genocide.

brump speech-side-l-1 "Why am I polling so bad with the Arabs again? I'm only genociding Muslim people and not letting people with hijabs in to my campaign rallies." speech-side-l-2

I guess the short version is: I don't consider the parties engaged in genocidal rhetoric to be representative of Israel, and hope they won't be in a position to be representative of Israel for long.

Oh, so you don't consider the genocidal ruling party of Isn'treal to be representative of how you feel the country is? Go on, /r/neoliberal, tell us more about how you don't find western style domecracy to be representative of the will of the people.

Maybe instead of protecting the right to speech for genocidal ghouls, you should do something about the fascists in the country gui (though they're probably thinking more along the lines of vote )

I think this pretty accurately sums up why well-meaning neoliberals (if that's not a complete oxymoron) are unable to grapple with the idea that America bad. They view all the things that a country does that might be bad as just some bad actors, or one bad man in charge (see e.g. Trump, Netanyahu) without being able to see the bigger picture, which is of course

Love voting for the lesser of two evils candidate who won't let women wearing a hijab in to their campaign rallies! Can you imagine the lib reaction if this happened at a Trump event?

some real great takes here bootlicker

I was brought up in a household that was anti military.

Only as an adult was I able to form my own opinion.

Without a strong military in the past we would certainly not be here today and without a strong military now, who knows what other nation might decide to attack our sovereignty.

It's childish to be anti military - it shows you do not understand the interconnectedness of our society - good and bad.

It's disingenuous to ignore the effect the aggression of the cold war and its aftermath had on the current Russian situation.

Bro, I don't know what warped version of reality you live in, but without a strong American military to stand up to the Soviet Union during the Cold War, you'd be speaking Russian right now. Ukraine blew their chance to join NATO as soon as possible like everyone else did when the Cold War ended, and they are now being slaughtered en masse by Russia in their attempts to turn them into their newest southwestern oblast.

As a liberal raised during the backlash to the Iraq War, my attitude towards the Military Industrial Complex has really changed in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and China’s seemingly inevitable invasion of Taiwan. Add in the possibility that the US could be dragged into new wars in the Middle East and even possibly South America, and I really don’t think we have the luxury to say “weapons bad, let’s not build any”.

Being the policeman of the world absolutely sucks. War absolutely sucks. But one of the best ways to prevent China, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, etc from saying “might make right, let’s take this land and these resources from our neighbors, since no one can stop us” is for the US to say, “no, we will stop you and we have the will and the tools to easily do it.”

who's responsible for the US choosing to police the world? who-did-this

The US is the most benign empire one could wish for. History makes that plain, and just peeking over the fence at contender's tendencies and track record further reinforces that. Easy moral justification backed by actual moral justification.

I might be wrong but I don't think lemmy.ml is a Marxist Leninist instance. You might be thinking of lemmygrad.ml which is. I'm not sure why lemmy.ml uses that top level domain.
