No company "only realizes" anything when it comes to their financials. They had forecasts for the entire year, and accountants keeping track of that shit on daily basis. Every CEO gets together with their CFO on the regular. They know exactly where the company is headed financially, and they prepare what they are going to say to their shareholders quarterly.

Layoffs like this are always planned. The fact that they aren't capitalizing on the Unity fuck-up to make up the difference shows their ineptitude.

I would not be surprised if it honed in on the connection between "smoking hot body" and "cigarettes".

I don't even bother to read the ffmpeg man page for its options. StackOverflow is the primary reference now.

Good. There's so much chain of trust in the OSS community that it's hard to keep up with the tens of thousands of libraries that literally hold up the Internet.

It's a shame we discover these critical bugs so late in the process, but at least we discover them at all...

Wake me up when orgs like Stability AI or Open AI bitch about this technology. As it stands now, it's not even worth mentioning, and people are freely generating whatever pictures, models, deepfakes, etc. that they want.

And that's just TBs of text.

You're posting on a social media platform...

That seems about as effective as those No-AI pictures artists like to pretend will poison AI data sets. A few pixels isn't going to fool AI, and anything more than that is going to look like a real image was AI-generated, ironically.

Allowing commerce ~~on the Internet~~ was a mistake. That’s the root of all this bullshit, anyway.

That's more accurate.

Don't even need AI video to do that. People just give away tens of thousands of dollars based on a shitty email, written in bad English, with Bill Gates' name on it.
