I don't think think I'll ever "retire" in the traditional sense.

My thought was to always have a severe mental breakdown around 50 and run off to the woods to build a log cabin and grow my own food. My wife knows of this plan but I'm pretty sure she thinks it's a joke. It's not.

Huh I wonder how many Fair Trade items I bought thinking they were Fairtrade. Thanks.

Thanks for this. I needed that little bit of a bright side.

People genuinely don't understand this and it's scary.

I feel like I'm going crazy explaining what a tariff is to people over and over who have never heard the word before but are praising it as a way to make everything cheaper and boost our economy

I fucking love Cauliflower, I thought I didn't like it because I grew up poor and didn't really get fancy veggies

My toddler and I have been bringing a trash bag to the park and cleaning the place up. It's always a mess and it makes me sad to see because it's my sons favorite park.

I'm in the process of converting my garage to my home office and want to set up solar to run my laptop, a couple monitors, lights, phone charging and I'm sure a few other small things.

I'm looking at this power station EcoFlow DELTA Portable Power Station 1300 and getting 4 of these panels Topsolar Flexible Solar Panel 100W 24V/12V to run parallel.

It seems like this setup would work, but I'm just curious what people who know more think about this setup and if there's a better way.

I do like the portable power station so if the power goes out I can bring it in the main house as well as being able to plug it into an outlet for those cloudy days and I like the flexible lightweight panels as I'll be installing these myself.

Did they send in actual coupons? Or is coupons some lingo that I'm out of the loop on? What instructions? Buy one bag of chips and get one 50%?

I have so many questions.

Wait is that normal? The last 3 jobs I've had had a waiting period of at least a month.

I always assumed it had to with whatever cost comes with adding someone to the insurance plan + the cost they're paying. They want to make sure the person is going to stick around. But to me that just seems like the cost of doing business.

My wife and I were once at a day long event a few hours north and it snowed pretty heavy. Didn't even think about the car until we walked up to see the tires almost completely covered. It was late and the whole town pretty much shut down, so all I had to use was a window scraper.

Definitely keep a shovel in the car.

A huge reason that I took the job I have now is because they let me start my health insurance plan asap. It was supposed to be after 3 months but I just asked nice and they didn't hesitate to agree even without my whole spcheil. I have a wife and a son, at the time my wife was still going through some post pregnancy health issues and my son was going through some stuff that required regular visits. I turned down some cushy jobs solely because they wanted me to wait 3-6 months to be insured, which I get from a business perspective, but what the actual fuck? It took me a while to switch jobs for that reason alone. I guess it's a good indicator of a company that has common sense/common decency.

I see stories like this a lot and can't believe it. My wife was in a similar situation and had to get an emergency dnc, and still came close to dying from sepsis.

The doctors were so on it, we waited in the ER for a while because they were packed but as soon as they took her blood and realized what was going on she was in surgery within the hour.

Our son want even 2 at the time. If we were 30 minutes west she would've died. It's absolutely fucking wild.

How could anyone think this is right?

How bad is this crack? I just noticed it today but I assume it's been there a while and happened after an earth earthquake we had a few months ago.

Is this something I can just fill in with mortar and keep an eye on?

I plan on reaching out to our insurance company to see if they'll pay for it but if not we're pretty strapped for cash at the moment.

Figure this was a good place to ask.

My whole block has a horrible wasp issue. All my neighbors seem to just be killing them as they see them with raid or something, which hasent helped much.

My plan was to use a vinegar/water mix with a few drops of peppermint oil and go around the house and spray it in the areas i cant have them for immediate action. But i also hear you can plant some herbs like lemon balm and mint to help keep them away from certain areas. I'm not sure how true this is so I figured id ask.

I already have some lavender, lemond balm, and catmint plants i can move around.

P.S. i know they're necessary and good to have around, but my 2 year old is allergic and loves to play in the yard.

Terrible picture but it's the best i could get.

In the US south jersey.

They're tiny, dark with some spots and seem to like hanging out in windowsills.

They super squishy when squeezed and slow, they started appearing inside when the weather was getting warm a few weeks ago.

We're planning on growing strawberries this year. I was planning on putting them in pots with plant hangers on the sunny side of the fence, my wife suggested building a vertical tower with some dollar store tri-pots.

Both ideas make sense to me so i wanted to see if anyone had any experience/advice on what's the best way, or if it doesn't matter, or if there's a much better idea that we haven't thought of.

Thanks in advance!

After only 2 weeks 4 of my 5 hardwood apple tree cuttings already have a little bit of root growth!

It's not much, I could joke and say you need a microscope to see it and not be far off but it feels like such an accomplishment and a little like magic.

It's my first time propagating from cuttings and I'm absolutely amazed that I essentially stuck some sticks in dirt and they're turning into trees.

Those who are lucky enough to have a partner.

How do you divey up the workload and ensure an even partnership where one partner is stay at home and the other works full time?

My wife and I had a miscarriage last week. We were 11 weeks along but our baby only grew to 8 weeks.

It's been devastating.

I'm hoping to get some advice from anyone who's been through it.

  • what can I do to help my wife? She's in physical pain which seems to be overriding the emotional pain, but I'm sure it will hit in due time and want to be able to help her the best that I can.

  • our 15 month old obviously doesn't know what's going on, but it seems like he's noticed a change of energy. Its hard to play with him like I normally do. I love him to bits, I just don't have the energy but I need to make sure he knows he's loved.

  • we were able to collect the fetus as it passed naturally , we would like to do something to memorialize our unborn child but don't know what.

  • how can I take care of myself while taking care of my family through these times.

Thanks for any advice.

My wife, my 1 year old and I have a trip coming up and we'll be staying in a hotel.

Our big guy's done great on previous trips sleeping without a problem, but this will be the first time we don't have a separate room for him (we've stayed in cabins and stuff before, I don't mean a separate hotel room). When we try to put him down and he sees us still in the room he usually just cries for us and we would have to end up going to bed with him.

I would love to be able to put him down and still be able to enjoy a quite night of playing cards or watching a movie with my wife without having to go to bed at 7 with him everynight.

Anyone have any advice?
