This is the kind of thing more appropriate for an UnethicalLifeProTips community lol.

Oh yeah, 100% with Yvonne and Teren. It’s kinda like Teren’s like “you hired me as CEO, now let me be CEO and back off.”

Unrelated hot take but the thumbnails don’t seem as egregious as others I’ve seen, but honestly I might’ve just gotten used to them, or I pay more attention to what he’s holding or something.

On another note, I do also hope things get better. Unfortunately, I’m disappointed in Linus’s own response in the video as he still victimized himself, but he said some things that seemed genuine after. Half the stuff about Billet labs I found reasonable but the rest seemed half-baked. Hats off to the rest of his staff and his CEO though—they were very genuine and not shy about taking accountability. I appreciate the CEO taking charge as he’s a much more sane voice than Linus in my opinion, and I appreciate Yvonne standing up.

iOS 17 beta--Personal Voice (iusearchlinux.fyi)
submitted 1 year ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Hello, I am currently on the iOS 17 beta and I don't seem to have the "Personal Voice" option in the Accessibility settings on my iPhone 11. Any idea what may be the issue?

I was recently talking to some friends about Lemmy and the whole Fediverse idea, as it seemed like a really cool part of the Internet. As I was talking about it, though, I realized how unusually friendly this whole place is, and I joked that I "surprisingly haven't found any bigotry."

I'm wondering if anyone has come across that, by any chance. If it's rare, my guess is that even though it's decentralized, each instance has a set of rules and values that are shared throughout the Fediverse, and I'm guessing it's easy to defederate with any seedy communities haha.

So I have a 40 year old son and I decided to check his computer like other parents do. Usually when I check my son's computer, it just has the normal desktop you're supposed to see on your computer: a white screen that says Gooogle.com or something, whatever the kids do these days. Search history is also empty so I know that my husband doesn't use the internet like a naughty child. But then I accidentally moved the little paperweight on his desk and a pointer moved to the corner of the screen, right above the a red X. I tapped the paperweight, and there was a little button!, I pressed the button, and the screen changed! There's a picture that showed up with so many weird icons, the bottom bar had a thing that seemed like the devil made it to be parent-proof! I don't know what to do please help my son has hid a whole special hacker interface from me to hide his devolution into sin.

Bug on this instance (iusearchlinux.fyi)

There seems to be a bug when viewing this instance:

(Heh, it's at least way better than accessing lemmy.world right now...)

I don't think it'll really become mainstream because honestly, a lot of people on Reddit and other platforms don't really care about changes to the platforms. It's frustrating but in the end, they're just casual users and it won't affect them that much, and that's ok, we don't need every single person to be an expert, yk. I do like the way the decentralized internet is now.

Also surprisingly haven't come across bigotry yet haha.

Anything GUI-related is just bloat, don't even bother with a tiling window manager, just remove that and your whole desktop and use Arch just in a terminal the way God intended

Agreed, but it's 48 hours later, and it seems like more and more subreddits have decided to continue protesting indefinitely, which I'm really happy to see. I too have no clue how effective it'll be, but it's showing a much clearer message.
