Couldn't run Windows 7, and Windows 10 ran like shit. My old PC basically got a second life with Linux.

This is Half-Life GOTY running on Wine, runs really smooth.

The only downside is lack of directX support, OpenGL is there but the integrated graphics card only supports till OpenGL 2.1, which is not enough for many things, and also slower than directX. Still, my PC feels much faster now, and doesn't scream like a demon whenever I open up a browser :)

(Maybe I should dual boot Win7(While never connecting it to the web), just to play some more games with DirectX?)

Also, my local hospital has started using Ubuntu, their old PCs also couldn't handle the heavy burden of running Windows I guess 🤣

I recently installed chromium, created a new user and logged into a website. After my work was done, I removed chromium with "sudo dnf remove chromium".

A few days later I installed chromium again through dnf. My user account was still there and I was logged into the same site.

Is there a way to avoid this and uninstall an app along with all its user data?

Everyone doesn't live in 1st world countries.

I'm in one of those places where people barely make a living even after pretty much working to death. I am still a student and I have been lucky enough to be born into a more fortunate family. I don't have firsthand experience, so I will give an example.

A good example is my teachers. They have a 6 to 5 job 6 days of the week, and their monthy salary is equivalent to 865USD.

The fact that I can use the internet and tech as much as I want is a blessing

I had an Aspire One D270 laptop with a 32-bit Intel Atom CPU and 1 gigabyte of RAM, so I installed Debian with Xfce on it, but even then it's running way too slow.

Is there anything I can do to make the laptop faster and more responsive given its limited memory?

Me too, and I'm surprised how I haven't. As a kid I used to pirate stuff from tons of shady websites without any antivirus software on an outdated Windows XP.

Yup, you are right. Mobile banking seems to be really difficult on custom ROMs and overall it just brings too many issues. I will keep using the stock ROM for now (HyperOS). I have google play services disabled, all Gapps and Xiaomi bloatware apps deleted. I feel like that's good enough. RethinkDNS to block internet connection from apps that don't need it. I shouldn't let "perfect" get in the way of good.

Do you have any other suggestions to make my phone a bit less of a data mine?

Germ Theory

Diseases used to be associated with paranormal powers or the wrath of gods in most cultures. The discovery of microorganisms and advancement of medicine may be our civilization's greatest achievement.

I have a Redmi Note 11, I am planning to install a custom ROM. This is the first time I'm about to do something like this.

How good of a reputation does the Paranoid Android OS have? Will I get good long term support? How functional is it?

Halo:CE. The controls were too floaty and the level design got WAY too confusing somewhere in the middle of my playthrough. Never finished it afterwards.

A significant number of comments have mentioned Rimworld, guess I'll install it. Thanks for your recommendations!

I'm seeing Rimworld and Factorio in a lot of the comments here. I have played Factorio already, great game. Guess I'll try Rimworld now.

I recently booted up Half-Life 2 to replay it. I have played the absolute shit out of this game before, so 60% of it just feels like a drag to me now. It was such an amazing game but it's sort of spoiled for me after I've played it too much.

I also discovered ULTRAKILL a few months ago. I feel like I could play that game forever. It has tons of content, weapon combinations and higher difficulties with different enemy behaviour.

Do any of you have more game suggestions like Ultrakill? A really replayable singleplayer game.

!!BTW I don't mean online multiplayer games or games similar to candy crush!!

Could it be because of my VPN?

Edit: Works in a different browser, Sorry for wasting your time.

There is no longer an option to use ChatGPT without an ID on chatgpt.com for me. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Do you know of any songs that an average person wouldn't easily find on the internet, but is still worth listening at least once in a lifetime. I highly encourage music that isn't in English.
