Not accepting intolerance isn't being a dictator. Plus you can just switch instance if you don't agree with it's moderation.

The whole point of federation is shit communities can be dropped if they don't match up with your instances ideals.

The instance admins don't want the hassle of moderating content from bad instances and it's totally up to them.

If people don't like it they can move. No Biggie.

Or your instance can defederate instances that go against their principles (the whole point of defederation) and you can create an account on the other.

They forcibly replaced mods doing the blackout with ones that would end it. They ended the rebellion swiftly.

The new protest they are doing is changing the rules of subs.

For example pics only allows picturws of John Oliver, memes only allows memes about landed gentry.

Those are two different communities. The same as they would be on Reddit. Literally different names.

Communities are hosted on one a synced with others. So technology will be the same on all servers as long as they haven't defederated each other.
