Hugs, y'all. Do what you feel is best. <3

I've been on Discuit more than Lemmy, but honestly? If Beehaw defederates or switches to a different platform, I'm more likely to visit Beehaw on a daily basis than I have been. I just prefer well-tended walled gardens. I grew up with forums being the way. Smaller communities feel the best. Even when the software base is good, the community management part is ... complicated with the fediverse.

Hugs. Try to be gentle with yourself. <3

It's fine, but I don't enjoy having to deal with federation stuff. It's doable, but it's not intuitive, and everything is a bit too disorganized.

Hoping we defederate from them proactively - I wouldn't give them any more info than they already have...

Any Beehawians (Beehawans? Cowbees?) looking for a Twitter replacement might consider Counter.Social - it has a similar vibe to Beehaw and Tildes. It is not federated but is using a lot of Mastodon code. The community sets it apart - and the owner's insistence on no ads, no algo, security, privacy, etc.

It's been around a few years and the infrastructure was upgraded with the last bit Twitter exodus, so CoSo remains stable where Bluesky and some others have been screwy. You can find me there with the same username - say hi if you pop in!

Enjoy the backlog if you get a chance! He's got some good stuff.

This dude is so good. <3

This is really handy! Thank you!

Yeah - it can be done safely. That's way too much effort for me, lol :) I'll stick to my low-tech doorbells and stuff.

Harmful, IMO.

Anywhere "smart" objects are, surveillance can also be. I've read 1984 enough times to know I don't want a telescreen on every available surface.

I would unironically love that.
