@[email protected] My wife while telling the story to some friends while holding our son in her arm:
her: "It was really stressful and I could literally feel my body being crushed internally with him taking more and more space..."
Our son start to hug her while falling asleep
her:"... but it was really nothing".

I can relate the "dad way" to this... Everything feels worth it.

@i_[email protected] Because people using it are used to Windows so they're also used to wait on unnecessary slow system operations ? I'll see myself out...

But more seriously it's because it's a good practice. It allow easier recovery and all.

But it's really long if you have, like me, a non-ssd drive of 5 TO (It would take about 2 days at full disk speed to dd to 0 every bit of it).
