I've only ever used them hiking, and then only in certain cases. Maybe I'll change my mind when I get older, but they seem unnecessary for me now.
It would be nice if CA passed a "right to roam" law that allowed one to cross any private land
I made one with an R-pi and hard drive with Open Media Vault. It was pretty easy to set up, and I haven't had any trouble with it. Only one disk so far, since I don't have that much stuff.
I walk up hills. Much more efficient than running. Someone once told me if you can't see over the hill, you should walk it.
But will race walking help when you're going steeply up a trail?
Just more confirmation that running away from reddit was the right choice. We all owe the developers of the fediverse for have all these platforms and welcoming everyone.
