I was surprised to learn that many cruise ships burn diesel rather than bunker oil.

Refund paid in monthly installments seems like a huge red flag too…yikes. Hopefully these passengers can come out of this mostly okay at least.

Biden is going to handle this like the Covid checks. Make a big promise hinging on the election and then under deliver. Then waste a couple years and make some executive memo bullshit that gets tied up in the courts. If he lives that long.

I want legal weed and more. Just saying Biden isn’t the guy to deliver.

I've been running Tipi for a couple months on a home machine. I don't have any significant experience with Docker and Tipi was simple enough I could get it running pretty easily.

I use tailscale to access it away from home. I'm running FreshRSS, Invidious, LibReddit, Joplin and Vikunja. Pretty slick!

Lets see the Dems actually accomplish something substantive. Don't get me wrong... I hope they do. I just doubt they will.

I have been running Arch for awhile with no major speedbumps...until this weekend.

I usually run updates every few weeks to once a month or so. Ran an update on Saturday, and somehow my system locks up. I bite the bullet and reboot after awhile, start cleaning up the partial upgrade mess (yay chroot) etc.

Things keep getting weird though. The system isn't very stable, so I keep digging, trying to figure out what I broke. I start to notice intensive r/w operations (unfortunately including pacman queries) cause problems.

"It can't be hardware," I think, focused on the software effects I am seeing. "I must not be able to hack it with Arch."

I start thinking about finding a compromise between Debian and Arch as I continue tinkering. Finally I'm put out of my misery as my SSD gives up the ghost.

It WAS the goddamn hardware!

My recent project has been putting my QDX on the air using my Steamdeck for Parks on the Air. Here's version 1.0: https://todon.eu/@Chicory/109253278031948863

I have been gradually refining the station. Once it gets cold again I am going to work on restoring a Heathkit HW-9 QRP CW rig. And perhaps building a QMX.
