@[email protected] Honestly, in over five decades, I never knew that little tidbit. Very fond memories of my child garden, during the 1976 Bicentennial celebration era...thank you Mrs. McCarthy. Guess that I'm STILL learning sumthin new everyday!

P.S. I miss my Crayola crayons 🖍️

@[email protected] Absolutely beautiful Swede...I am always amazed at the female's yellowish colors. Seeing a Cardinal, for whatever reason, makes me pause and think about how grand Mother Nature is to carve out a cardinal corner, in the world, for them.

I had a pair of nesting Cardinals, in the backyard, last May. I was having a cigarette and this female was on the pavement looking for cicadas. Images were taken from my phone, and not in high definition...but I was quick enough to click! 🙂

@[email protected] That's a spectacular photo Swede! Yes, indeed, I can see the heart, on its chest. ♥️

I was unaware of the Rose-breasted Grosbeak being in the Cardinalidae family. I knew of the 4 types of Cardinals 1) Northern 2) Desert 3) Vermillion 4) Red-crested.

Now that you mentioned it, I can TOTALLY see similar traits or physical characteristics, in comparison, to the Cardinal.

How wonderful to learn something new today about one of the most popular bird species, in the United States. Awesome
