@benlk @bloomington_in They're just completing a study which will probably recommend traffic calming on that road. Whether that will actually happen is another question, but if it did I imagine they would also try to induce some demand for businesses there.

@ObbieZ @bloomington_in The people who are against the skywalk think conventioneers will never leave their bubble if they don't have to. They want to avoid the skywalk to get people wandering around the downtown.

Skywalk a controversy in new convention center

What do we think about this, urbanists? Is this really a deal breaker?

"The design should not include ‘skywalk’ connections …, which would limit convention attendee opportunities to interact with and patronize downtown businesses. Skywalks would also undermine the quality of public space in the downtown, in contradiction to city plans and goals."

How should parking be priced in college towns?

"These places also sometimes experience surges in demand for access to the central area that are seasonal or otherwise cyclical. In the summer, they are surreal—all or most of the amenities intended for a larger, denser population with far fewer people competing for them. Football Saturdays present the opposite problem: the city’s population may double half a dozen days a year"

@ajsadauskas @fuck_cars I can get to a gas station.

OK, maybe to a park if you don't require it to have playground equipment 🙂

@markstos @samth @bloomington_in I travel 11th & Fee a lot. Tons of pedestrians, people pulling in and out of the garage and the business school, and you're at top speed when you get there southbound. I'm not too surprised.

@samth @markstos @bloomington_in The hills on Hunter don't bother me (on my ebike) nearly as much as the stop signs. But a good route south of 7th and north of Sheridan would be nice.

@brianrlawson To make progress we need to get rid of the corrupt, incompetent, hateful people in the state legislature. But then I go and look at the Indiana Democrats web page and see this, and I despair.

"We're rebuilding Party infrastructure from the ground up so we can hit the ground running in the 2022 elections."
