He’s called for Arab nations to recognize the state of Palestine with its capital in Al Quds Al Syarif and sever all ties to Israel and all Zionist-supporting organizations including commercial entities. In President Prabowo’s visit to Bali this past weekend he reinforced his commitment to building the North Bali International Airport to alleviate the pressure on Ngurah Rai and inject interest in the northern regions of the island. He announced a lofty goal to turn the Buleleng regency to resemble Singapore or Hong Kong (this ought to be fun)

The airport had been in the works since President Yudhoyono’s term but halted by his predecessor Megawati during Jokowi’s era.

This is an insane story that began when the son of a now former legislator murdered his girlfriend by using his car but was set free by the judges of a State Court despite video evidence. The judges were then arrested after investigators found a total of US$1.6 million in their houses. The lawyer for the murderer was also arrested. The Supreme Court took over the case and sentenced him to 5 years (way too low for a grisly murder).

The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of this retired Supreme Court staffer who had over S$80 million in cash and gold in his house.

Sunday was Prabowo’s inauguration as President. After three direct attempts and a 2008 run as VP to Megawati Soekarnoputri, the formerly disgraced Army General has now moved in to the Merdeka Palace.

Prabowo put together a big tent coalition including drafting Jokowi’s son, Gibran Rakabuming, as his VP, causing a constitutional crisis as the court decided to illegally reinterpret the Constitution for his eligibility. He’s not old enough. The Court’s Ethics Council later determined the ruling was unconstitutional and demoted the Chief Justice but left the illegal decision to stand (go figure).

Jokowi was the furniture seller who gave Prabowo the biggest cabinet the country has seen since Soekarno was deposed in a coup by Prabowo’s ex father in law, Soeharto.
