Everything is really bad. But sadly it is nearly impossible to buy a normal TV these days. Just buy any SmartTV, and get yourself a MiniPC with the Linux Distro of your liking.

For anybody having trouble with K-9 Mail and Thunderbird being in the same Release section, add this to Filter APKs by Regular Expression:

To get only Thunderbird Updates: ^thunderbird-.*.apk$

To get only K-9 Mail Updates: ^k9-.*.apk$

Trackpad: Because i decided to not go with anything like kodi, i need a mouse and as i can not use a mouse when sitting on the couch i got a keyboard with integrated trackpad.

Jellyfin: There are a hole lot of guides on jellyfin. Just put it in to youtube and you will find plenty of stuff. The only thing is 'obtaining' the media to fill your library. There are a lot of ways and it depends on what language you need your content to be in to make any decision.

Homelab: Well if you want to run anything like piped or jellyfin you need a homelab. This could also be just a RaspberryPi. To get Piped with subscription feed running you can use my guide: https://gist.github.com/WreckingBANG/405235949c655cd8246188ba25c42277

Its not opensource tho, so you are still getting google tracking.

Set up a mini PC like a used Lenovo ThinkCentre, install Linux, and add a keyboard with trackpad. Run Jellyfin and Piped on your homelab, then 'obtain' media for your Jellyfin-Instance. Enjoy TV without distractions or tracking!

Well its just old sony tv and i am looking for a replacement with better quality and it is pretty hard to find anything. I will probably just go with a smart tv and never connect it to the internet. You can hack samsung TVs to jump straight into a hdmi input so i will probably do that even tho i am not happy with it.

I want to buy a new car, but it needs to be privacy friendly. Sadly you cannot really buy any new Car that is.

Has anybody any experience on making your modern car not phone home to its company, by removing the hardware it uses to do?

Is there any Good alternative for Forest? I want a App to reward me for not using my phone.

I bought a Eaton Ellipse Eco 650 USB DIN for my Homelab. I connected it to my nas which is running OpenMediaVault because OMV has a NUT Plugin. I conneced it, it got recognised and i thought i should test it. So i switched the breaker off and my nas turned off safely after my entered time. I then went to turn the breaker back on, but after a few seconds the ups shuts the power off all devices and applies it after a second. This only happens when the nas is connected via usb.

  • is there a setting that i missed in nut?
  • is my ups broken (i dont think so)
  • what could be the problem?

Edit: Wow, the Eaton Germany Support is terrible. I called them multiple times and i think they dont even have a Call Center. I now submitted a Support Ticket. They could at least tell you that they dont have telephone support right now. If i get a response i will update this.

Edit2: It turns out, it was a issue with the integrated nut tools in OpenMediaVault. After removing them and installing them via apt and configuring it with the config files, it works without any power loss.

I am sorry if this has been asked before, but when or will it be open sourced. It is the best Lemmy Client i have used yet but i dont like anything being closed source and i read somewhere the dev wants to open source it at some point. Just interested if there is an estimate.

Is this Total User Counter true? It seems kind of wrong because the Graph is only at 300k and i cannot imagine that we grew 200k people in the last 4 hours.
