It seems like FOSS apps just appeal more to the far left than any other political group. And that's coherent with all their other beliefs so it's only logical. The same thing happens on Mastodon, though it's less extreme. Could find some accounts of regional branches of the major left-wing party in my country, none center or right-wing.

My 5 years old android phone still working perfectly. And then, when it finally isn't enough I'll just take an alternative ROM/linux phone hoping for it to have better quality/price ratio in the future rather than Apple because that company is bullshit and Google is bullshit too.

Lemmy wouldn't have to start from the ground up. They would already have all the source code and instances, a potential userbase who was already convinced not to let these people control their social networks, who already have the frontend installed on their devices, is already used to the interface and features of the app. Even if Spez were to do this, other instances would be built and in the long run it would be a financial hole.
