It’s general research, not specifically research with direct military application.

A lot of AI research isn't specifically done for military purposes, but there are plenty of ways the military can (and does) use it.

If I understand correctly, you're saying that a person's sex should only be referenced when it is relevant, which is only in a narrow set of situations. Any reference in speech to a person should not invoke his sex.

You could try dropping the condescending tone. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean he is uneducated.

I would also recommend being polite and using the charity principle. You generally won't change someone's mind by berating him.
