Blue and Rust Beauty

This image was on that I looked at yesterday (8 November 2024), but I didn't like the image. Today, though, I looked at it again and like the image. Sometimes it is all about your perspective at a moment in time, don't you think? The bird is an eastern bluebird (Sialia sialis).

My photo gallery contains more that 900 images that I've chosen to share. Most are there for their visual appeal but there are a few novelty images. I add new images every couple of days.

Good morning. πŸŒ§οΈπŸŒ¦οΈβ›ˆοΈ

9 November 2024

There is rain this morning, in came without warning. You might say that it is storming, this morning. When I was a child as I recall, I had one of those yellow raincoats with a hood that I would wear to school in the rain. To me back then it was an adventure and my imagination went wild. Later as a grownup, I lost the little yellow raincoat and with it much of my imagination. It wasn't that the raincoat was imbued with magical powers, it was just that I grew up. But as a soldier, I would sometimes find myself standing in the rain with a hooded raincoat or poncho (not yellow) for hours listening to the rain hit the hood, that brought memories.

A Dove Above

This is a mourning dove (Zenaida macroura) on a thick branch in an oak tree. It is a rather pleasant looking view of the bird.

"The Mourning Dove is the most widespread and abundant game bird in North America. Every year hunters harvest more than 20 million, but the Mourning Dove remains one of our most abundant birds with a U.S. population estimated at 350 million." - http://allaboutbirds.org

Gull in the City

I saw this laughing gull (Leucophaeus atricilla) race by while standing on a corner in Galveston, Texas.

I've had several inquiries about how to get a print of some my photographs. This is a hobby for me, so I haven't been equipped to handle those requests. But I enjoy what I'm doing and want to share my photographs.

So, I set up an account and website with pixels. My website is:

If you want a print of one of my photographs, you can get it there, If I haven't loaded it, let me know which one it is, and I'll gladly load it there for you.

Good morning. 🏝️🌊🌊

8 November 2024

The days have definitely gotten shorter, winter is coming. Tonight, will be Friday night and the feelings right ... oh, what a night. If you didn't already know, I'm fluent in gibberish. On Friday night my wife and I get wild, order out for supper, and rent a movie. I have to be careful what I eat though. Such are the lives of free spirits. Hmmm ... I just noticed that above I originally wrote wive instead of wife, I corrected it but started to add an "s" on the end instead of changing the "v" to and "f".
The behaviors of Ben and Charlie changed a bit, it is less than a half hour until mealtime and they aren't in here bugging me. If you read this cut me some slack.

Yep, all good. And the sun has risen for the second day in a row.

No Worries.

Ben, Charlie, and I had just gone through the backyard gate for our walk. I took a pair of work gloves because I intended to move some felled branches and a couple small trees. But as we rounded the house, I saw some birds filtering among trees in the front yard. So, I went back to get my camera. I was actually hoping to get a glimpse of hermit thrush or an American pipit, two species I know are around, but I haven't actually seen them. I took this photo of a bird in a tree; the original was quite dark. It turns out not to be either species. Instead, it is a pine warbler (Setophaga pinus).

Nature's Colors

There were not many birds around the yard this morning, if you don't count the pigeons. I took this photo of a female northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) in the spring.

You know, the photographs that I post here are not quite a vivid as the same photographs that I post at my pixel's gallery, because here, I reduce the size of the photos and usually make a slight reduction in the quality of the photos to make them easier to load.

Take a look:

Birdfeeder Raider

Here is an eastern gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) doing its best to maintain balance while eating at a bird feeder.

I don't post all of the photos that I post here to my Pixels gallery, but I post the photos I like best. Some don't make the cut. I usually wait a couple of days and see how I feel about it then.

Sparrow and Blue Sky

This is a chipping sparrow (Spizella passerina) one of the species that I photograph the most.

Yea, with many species of birds, the females are subdued.

6 November 2024

My iPhone 14 went haywire at 12:08 A.M. this morning. I woke up and went to check the election news when I found my screen frozen. I couldn't log on or shut down the phone. I spent a little badly needed sleep time trying to figure it out, but in the end decided to leave it for the morning. It took some googling to figure out what to do, which is to force a reboot. The procedure is to on the left side of the phone, quickly press and release the up-volume button, then press and release, the down-volume button, then press and hold the button on the right side of the phone until the apple insignia comes up. As for the election, the sun rose this morning.

Orson Welles

I wouldn't worry too much about it, penmanship isn't a critical skill. Although, it is useful to be able to read your own notes.
