I like THAC0 because it forces my brain to shift into an older style of play. With AAC I have a habit of subconsciously (and unfairly) comparing whatever game I'm in to 5e simply because of the mechanics. THAC0 really allows me to enjoy older editions and OSR games as their own thing.

Sounds like a job for a flushmaster

I agree with this sentiment. I know people love 5e and PF because the interesting choices are when they build their character and deciding what feats and abilities work well together. I tend to gravitate to OSR style games because for me the interesting choices happen around scarcity of resources ( torches, food, money, hp, etc).

Playing PbtA games taught me that fictional positioning can have just as big an impact as mechanics. You can't wrap a mace around someone's ankle, but the chain of a flail...

Thanks I appreciate it

This might be a dumb question so apologies in advance. I'm looking into degoogled phones but haven't taken the plunge yet. If I logged in and used the aurora store to get apps I paid for in the past, will that ''regoogle" my device and allow google to track me again through signing in and using those apps?

Dicey Dungeons. I love roguelike deck builders, but on paper DD has too silly a premise and too much RNG. It's a lowkey masterpiece of game design. I ended up buying it for my switch, android, and steam. If you like games like Slay the Spire or Monster Train, you owe it to yourself to check out Dicey Dungeons. I am not sponsored in any way.

I don't have any experience with scoop, but if you like it that's great. I don't want to yuck anyone's yum.

Illmire is my favorite town of recent, although I wouldn't use it for a West Marches. For me the most important thing a WM town has is safety. The world is strange and dangerous place, but the town us the one place they're guaranteed respite. A WM town also needs a tavern NPCs that have knowledge of the outside world to help seed adventure ideas. Shops, churches, and NPCs can be made on the fly as you need them.

Mistakes were made

Hi, My normal account was recently banned from c/memes and possibly all of lemmy.ml, but I wasn't sure why. I was wondering if there was a mod I could ask, so I could learn from my mistake, mea culpa, and possibly beg for forgiveness.
