That's correct, it's featuring a SID chip and a special VIC-II variant that is using SRAM. It was supposed to be released in Germany as VIC-10, but never made a release outside Japan. I have two of them, but none with this kind of box.

I'm well aware of the Max Machine, it was the direct ancestor to the C64 and I have repaired a few myself.
It's just that I never saw one in a C64 box format. Usually the MaxMachine boxes are more square.

I'm usually not too much into handhelds, but the #Anbernic rg35xx h is an awesome little device that even rocks #RetroArch.
Bonus: It runs my favourite shmup #Ordyne.π₯³

It comes with a detailed manual containing tactical advice.
I miss the times when games came with a real manual.
Paid β¬20 for it.

It's indeed quite odd.
It even gets weirder, there was a data recorder (datasette) that could be plugged into the keyboard for loading and saving programs.
Strangely enough the use of a disk drive prevents the use of family basic because it occupies the cartridge port.
