These sorts of things aren't resolved in a matter of days or weeks. Depending on how thorough the investigation is, how cooperative all parties involved are, and how much time per week is dedicated to the investigation we could be well into next year before anything is even announced (if anything ever is).

I use Lemmy on my phone but not Reddit, but unfortunately have a hard time finding content I'm interested in or in-depth conversations.

I use Reddit on my PC still, but not Lemmy.

You're exactly right. I think the most expensive iPhones are maybe $1k USD and the cheapest are around $400 USD. Android phones range from basically free to nearly $2k. iPhone fans look at it as fragmentation (because it is) and Android fans look at it as freedom of choice (because it is).
