There is actually a real definition to it. For example one day I realized that black people live in a world different than mine.

It woke me up to the realities of black existence

That’s why it’s “woke”.

When i had my kid and i read a bunch of stuff on parenting, i also came across those articles where black families needed to talk to their sons about police. It never occurred to me that people would need to so that.

this is why I believe capitalism is unsustainable.

when I talk about automation and labor, no one seems to get it. Hey, if your job gets automated, you get fired. Have you even considered that you could do less labor for the same pay because your work got automated? they just look at me like my head's been cut off.

I had to student teach secondary mathematics in october of 2020.

My host teacher was very up-to-date on online learning platforms (like pear deck and desmos) so i got to teach while learning these programs and making lessons with someone very knowledgeable with this. We also had 30% IEP students but also had a special education teacher so that helped a lot as well.

But otherwise most of the teachers were unprepared to teach themselves.

If you used manipulatives which i deem necessary to visualize fractions you were out of luck :(

This is a really good source of information by county:

https://livingwage.mit.edu/

One thing that people forget is that minimum wage is a factor as well. In texas a living wage is $14 and living wage of $25 in california. so you’d think you’d have a better cost of living in texas. However if you compare the minimum wage texas is $7.25 and california is $15.50.

For the amount you work, california is a better deal. However that makes it harder for people to come move to california obviously.

Don’t forget that we have right of center (democrats), right (republicans) and left of center (bernie sanders).

Democrats are still rich and love the lobby money.

Clintons have invested in privatizing prisons for example.

It’s not just the republicans that take advantage of the single ideology vote.

Yup. Everything i hear about health care cost is leverage. I’m glad to see this.

I will not fight for Starfleet, but I will defend its ideals. Pacifism is not pacivity. It’s the active protection of all living things in the natural universe.

This is not about getting shot or not this is about marginalized people defending themselves from a society that wants them dead. Plenty of trans folks fear for their lives without one bullet being shot so your logic fails.

If they do want to arm themselves, who I am to tell them that's irrational. I'm not trans. I don't know what their life is like.

When we were living in the high desert of california our friend would meet up at mcDs to let our kids play together. we were minding our own fucking business when a white stranger who asked our white friend if he was “okay”. As in was he ok with hanging out with us asians. This was before covid, only 70miles out of DTLA.

We don’t live there anymore thank god. Many are not fortunate enough to move away from this kind of hostile environment. How in the fuck can you say that for them to get a gun to defend themselves is irrational and insane?
