I apologize in advance if this is a Lemmy thing that I don't understand but I've been noticing some content differences while using the Lemmy apps. I usually brushed those off as performance or API issues but I can't with this one.

I've been closely following Thunder's development so I was excited to see the nightly community but upon arrival it shows no posts and 5 subscribers. Checking from other apps I can see that there are 2 posts and ten times as many subscribers.

So is it an actual Thunder bug or a weird Lemmy feature ? I thought instances weren't supposed to impact content ?

Thunder is my favorite so far, still rough but the next update should be great.

Same for me, even searching only allows you to chose from a dropdown with your instances only. So no good for me but a shame because it's a very good one !

Good point and probably worth posting about it in the sub or the GitHub issue page. Devs are quite reactive.

I did ! Very solid as well and probable a close second place, but :

  • The UI and themes are not there yet for me
  • Even though I'm connected it keeps asking me to log in to interract with stuff so not usable for me at the moment.
  • Search is only on added instances ?

Anyway I'm keeping all the apps installed and will follow their developments, try to give feedback. We are very close to having good app options. API will switch off soon and we have to be ready if we want to get "normal" folks.

I've tried a few on the Android side and Thunder is best so far so that's the one I would give a go first if I were you!

Hi guys, incredible work so far ! I installed like 5 apps to compare them and Thunder is clearly the best and the one I'm keeping.

My two requests would be :

  • A setting to change the default feed when we launch the app. That setting exists and works on the lemmy webui but is not respected and absent in the settings of Thunder.
  • I know from GitHub that you have a "Mark post as read" in your roadmap but to that I would add a functionality that convinced me to make Relay my main app when I used Reddit : Hide read post. When opening your feed that button would automatically remove read post and you would get posts that you haven't seen before. No more scrolling through pages of posts that you've already seen. I will add this addition to the relevant issue opened on GitHub.

Anyway app is already the most usable and the one I'm keeping. Thanks for the hard work and I'll stay around to track the progress ! Much love to the devs and users.
