Ecobee Thermostat (lemmy.world)
submitted 8 months ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Hey all. Thanks in advance to this amazing community for all it help. You guys are awesome.

I have a small home with in floor heating and an ERV. The infloor heating has two zones. One for bathroom and bedroom and another for kitchen and living room.

Wondering if the ecobee thermostat is my best option. Hoping that it can control both zones and switch them with the ecobee sensors or via homekit/HA. Will I be forced to buy two thermostats? Its a really small home, so two sensors isnt great and dont necessarily want a display panel mounted in the bedroom.

Is it possible to run the the ERV independently? Ie can I have the ERV controlled by a CO2 sensor independent of temp control? Ive been seeing conflicting info.

Im reading the manual but im not sure whats possible if integrating home kit/ha. Any and all advice welcome!

Awesome thanks for the advice. Id seen conflicting info on zwave vs zigbee for switches. One of the main things was wifi interference, but i live in a remote place and dont have a ton of wifi devices or outside interference. Also ill most likely be running a ubiquiti ap cause i use ubiquiti at work and am comfortable with it. Should be super solid.

So building new home. Its a small aframe up on the side of a mtn. Don’t need anything fancy like multi zone. Only need on/off with dimming. Buying switches for the main lights and am thinking its one of the following two.

Will be running a home assistant yellow and with a zwave dongle i believe. Any input? People like these switches? Would i be better off with zigbee or matter?

Im a noob so thanks for the help!

Hey all,

Im constructing a new home in sort of a remote mountainous area. Its a small one bedroom cabin, nothing crazy. Im about to start plumbing but am planning on electrical.

If you were going to incorporate HA into a new build what would you do?

Im not super familiar with HA but would love to incorporate it in now. Should i be installing all smart switches? Smart outlets? Are there really worthwhile sensors I should be installing now before drywall etc?

Thanks

Michael Luttig (via The Guardian)- “The former president is disqualified from holding the presidency again because he engaged in an insurrection or rebellion against the constitution of the United States when he attempted to remain in power, notwithstanding that the American people had voted to confer the power of the presidency upon Joe Biden.

“That constituted a rebellion against the executive vesting clause of the constitution, which limits the term of the president to four years unless he is re-elected by the American people. I cannot even begin to tell you how that is literally the most important two sentences in America today.”

Luttig draws a fine but important legal distinction between a rebellion against the constitution, as described by the 14th amendment section 3, and rebellion against the United States. He claims that groups that filed lawsuits in Colorado and elsewhere to bar Trump from the ballot are confused on this issue.

“They do not yet understand what disqualifies the former president, namely an insurrection or rebellion against the constitution. They have argued the cases as if he is disqualified because he engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States.

“That’s why they have, unfortunately, focused their efforts on establishing or not that the former president was responsible for the riot on the Capitol. The riot on the Capitol is incidental to the question of whether he engaged in a rebellion against the constitution.”

But he adds: “All of these cases – and there’ll be others in the states – is the constitutional process by which the American people decide whether the former president is disqualified from the presidency in 2024. All of these cases are going to roll up to the supreme court of the United States and it will be decided by the supreme court whether Donald Trump is disqualified.”

Sorry for the shit picture quality. Took the picture at noon. Ill try again tomorrow. But yeah. Loving this tire size. No rubbing and great ride. Flashing the TPMS sensors was super easy.

Sure. I like having an immediate visual confirmation of each monitors frequency response. Theres a lot of situations where it helps me.

Throw and go at a festival or if I have an opener that only ends up line checking. I definitely dont have the luxury of ringing and walking around with my iPad at every show.

Monitor world isnt always in ideal situations. At this position I had a stack of KS28’s right below me and two arrays of K2 and Kara hanging over my head that were reflecting off concrete.

Sometimes I’ll have a Leslie cab or guitar cab that are shooting straight back at my position. Loud bands with tons of stage volume.

FOH sound can interact differently with the stage during the performance. Maybe FOH is pushing more bass and I have a bluegrass band with a standup.

Maybe the band is playing and singing louder during the actual performance. Maybe the players or singers dont have enough experience and once the show starts they are asking me to push an acoustic or their vocals more and more.

Maybe FOH says something vague like “the vocals are a little hot in like a midrange-y spot.”

In any of these situations I have an immediate and freq specific response to the situation and can get things stable faster without any guess work. I can dial in freq and q super accurately. I dunno. I like it. You can also just set it up on the cue which is nice too.

The NSA had a program called DROPOUTJEEP according to an article in Der Spiegel. Think it came out with Snowden? Fuzy on details but you can look into it. It did include camera access but i dont think it could be installed remotely. Id be surprised if theres anything the NSA cant intercept but thats obviously what they would want us to think and Im just a guy.

Live sound engineer here. Im at 5 concerts a week. My best recommendation is Sensaphonics with a -9~ db plug. They are molded. You go to a ear doctor and the create a mold of your ear which you then send to the company. My doc did it for free since Im in the industry and threw in an ear test as well which I loved. These are the plugs most professional touring guys have hanging from their belts.

The cheap option I would recommend is the Etymotic research ones. Pretty good response off those. I keep a pair in my work case as back up.

Good article.

“…fossil fuel companies were rushing to switch to plastic production as two of their main markets – transport and electricity generation – were being decarbonised.”

I was expecting to see China as the leader here but its American Oil and Chemical companies financed by British and American banks. And they are pushing to produce more despite all the problems they are creating. Insanity.
