Don’t know how I’ve never come across this, but this made me laugh and cry and nod appreciatively.

Seriously, they couldn’t put in a 1/I/l test? That’s half of what I want a different font for.

Heck, the events I present at are a freaking fantastic time - so much so that the hardest part is getting in to present.

I specifically added the folkiest track, but the whole album is fantastic. Hidden gem!

More on the crescendo-core end of the spectrum, but really good. The symphonic bits are a delight.

I think I found this album due to The Post-Everything Collective monthly round up. Some nice happy(and tappy) instrumental math-rock to start 2024 with.

My wife says she got to marry her best friend, and I say that I get to bang my best friend whenever we want.

Curious what everyone thinks the top album of the year is. Personally, I found Syncatto, which is the flamenco/math/(metal?) band I didn’t know I needed. I really dug Gabba’s “Recollections”. “Sonorous Faith pt 2” was just as triumphant and joyful as part 1, but maybe that’s post-rock?

OH! Night Verses! Unsure if that’s math or djent or what, but hot damn.

Shout out to “Oh The Ezekiel”, enjoyable one-man band.

Sounds like John Mulaney’s drug dealer.

‘…counselor, who told him to delete and block his drug dealer. “It’s called ‘breaking up with your drug dealer.’ I texted my main dealer, Arvin — I shouldn’t have said his name, but that’s OK, you don’t know him.”

"I said, 'Hey, I'm deleting and blocking you. I'm sober now, I'm never gonna buy drugs again,'" John said. "But I'm really polite, so I didn't know how to end the text, so I said, 'But thank you, for all the nights that became days and your inspired professionalism.'"

"Before I can delete and block him, he texts me back and goes, 'Hey, I'm so proud of you. I'm so happy that you got sober. You know, I only bought drugs to sell to you, because I was worried about you, and I didn't want you to get worse stuff off the streets.'"

John then made a face like, “AW!” and said, “I know, and I’m breaking up with this guy?! So, I text him back, and go, ‘You sweet man. You only bought drugs to sell to me? Did you sell drugs to other people?’”

"He said, 'No, I'm a painter. We talked about this.' Ladies and gentleman, I have no idea how I know this person. So I texted him, 'How did it come to be — that you sold me drugs?'" Arvin wrote back that he didn't know either, but John just kept asking.’

  • Pictures of Wild Life - fell into floating (single)

Every summer, outside Mason Texas, approximately 4 million pregnant female Mexican Free -tailed bats come to give birth. Over the next couple of months, the babies grow, start flying with their moms, and eventually fly home. Not quite the size of Bracken, but at that time of year it’s one of the largest bat colonies in the world. https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/places-we-protect/eckert-james-river-bat-cave-preserve/

It’s an interesting place to get to. If you’re in a normal car, you need to pay attention to rain, as part of the directions are “turn off the paved road, drive 8 miles, ford a small river, then drive another mile or so”. The road is… not great, especially the last few hundred yards. But the bat flight is amazing. Seating is close you can get brushed by them. It’s a fantastic couple of hours.

This is how our local food bank does it. When you give money to them, you’re not actually buying groceries. You’re paying for trucks, gasoline and drivers who go to the various grocery’s’ warehouses, who take what is nearing “throw out” and make it available for people.

This is why I laugh whenever a local grocery store has a “hunger food drive“ - there, you are literally just buying groceries for other people. Whereas our food bank prides itself on being able to feed people for $.20 a meal - it’s a huge force multiplier.

Give to your local area food bank.

That’s weird that this is a new story - this made the rounds a year ago. But thanks for sharing! https://www.timesofisrael.com/miracle-plant-thought-to-be-extinct-claimed-to-have-been-rediscovered-in-turkey/
