Yeah, that’s not really what bail is and this will confuse people who don’t know.

Paying bail money doesn’t reduce time off your sentence, it makes it to where you don’t have to spend the duration of your trial in jail. After the trial, you’ll still have to spend the same amount of time in jail as you would have if you paid bail or not. Also, you get back your bail money at the end of trial as long as you don’t flee.

Of the two major parties, the GOP is far closer to what you’re describing. If it wasn’t for fear mongering, the GOP wouldn’t have anything at all to go off of. Bad things will happen like, immigrants flooding the borders, socialism raising your taxes, your kids being taught to be gay, etc. “Vote for us or bad things will happen” might as well be the official slogan of the GOP. Either that or “White Christians good, everyone else, bad”. Take your pick.

I saw this post which references a 2nd picture in the body of the post, but I can’t, for the life of me do anything to get it to display within Voyager.

If I click on the link button, it opens up in my browser and I can see both pictures. I was wondering if this is a bug in Voyager or if there’s something on my end that’s borked.

I disagree, back in the 60s it was totally possible to find a decent paying job, have a couple of kids, buy a house to store them in, get a new car every few years, send your kids off to school, go on vacations and retire at an age old enough to enjoy some time with the grandkids. Now that really isn’t a reality for the average person.

Right now it looks like this community is nothing more than alien.top bots reposting Reddit threads. I get that this place needs content, but this is absolutely not the content that I am looking for. Are these posts mod approved (aka can I go ahead and add this community to my block list) or are the mods unaware that literally all of the content here is being copied word for word from Reddit?

Edit: Just saw the mod here is the same guy who set up this abysmal experiment. Looks like I’ll be adding this one to my blocklist after all. Oh well, nothing of value was lost.

So, I don’t want to block all NSFW communities. However, I do want to pick and choose which ones that I see. As a result, I end up blocking a lot of them, and each and every time it asks me if I want to block that specific community or all NSFW. Is there a way you can add a “don’t ask me again” option for this, or maybe only ask the first (2-3?) time(s)? It’s also pretty easy to accidentally hit the block all NSFW option since it’s the top one and then you have to end up going to the settings and turning it off again. I feel like it would be a lot more user friendly if it only asked you this once instead of every single time.

Thanks.

So I was just browsing Lemmy using the web version of my instance and noticed that when I clicked on a user it took me to a page that looks like they have customized it with profile banners, info, links, etc. I have been using Voyager or Memmy for 99.999% of my Lemmy usage up until this point, and literally didn’t even know this profile section existed for users.

Is there a way to access this page within Voyager? Because if so, I can’t seem to find it.

It’s becoming increasingly necessary to be able to tell what instance a community is being posted to.

I realize this might be a huge/impossible ask, but I figured I’d try anyway. I would like to be able to see comments posted in communities that I have blocked if I click on someone’s profile. Especially if I click on my profile. I know they right now blocking is done through Lemmy and it’s probably a lot of work to go through and change that, but I really wish it behaved like Apollo did with Reddit. When you blocked a subreddit it wouldn’t show up in your /r/all feed but you could still click on someone’s profile and see posts and comments that they made in those subs. I really liked that and wish there was a way to make that happen here. I just made a comment in a community and then blocked it, but I still want to be able to see replies to it and check how many upvotes/downvotes it received. Any chance of making this happen in Voyager?

Impressive, I guess, but how many of those 2 million posts have a single comment? If 90% of these are just bots reposting things from Reddit with no further engagement…

I’ve encountered this several times now, and unless I’m missing something, I can’t find it. I’d like to be able to select a portion of the text from the person I’m replying to from within the reply box. If I hit reply to someone and start typing out a response I should be able to select portions of their text to copy into mine. I know there’s an option to select their text from the comments page, but once I’ve already started typing a reply I’ve either got to abandon it to be able to select some of their text, or copy my reply to another window, then go and copy their text and blend them together. Would be great if we had the option right there on the reply page. Thanks.

Edit: Also, I just remembered the function in Apollo that gave you the option to save your reply every time you chose to leave the reply window. That was amazing, but I have no idea if it’s something that could be added to this without major hassle. But as long as we’re making requests…

Really getting tired of seeing references to everything here being a repost from Reddit. We get it, this place needs content and posting old stuff is a quick and easy way to do that. Maybe you don’t need to point that out in the title of every single post you make?

updoot

Can that “word” please die with Reddit?

[-] [email protected] 46 points 1 year ago

This was a problem on reddit too, and it looks like it’s carried over here. People make new communities and just assume that everyone in the future who finds it will just automatically know the purpose.

I used a reverse google image search and found out it’s the Goodyear proving grounds in San Angelo, TX

But aren’t jokes supposed to be like, funny or something?

So I replied to a comment in a thread the bot posted over in one of the television communities, but I noticed tonight when I was viewing that community in Memmy all of the threads the bot was posting appeared to be empty. Just the title, and the info about where the original post came from and who posted it, but otherwise, pretty useless. I wondered if it was a mistake from the bot or the client I was using, so I tried it over on wefwef, and I saw the links there.

So I guess I don’t know if there’s a bug in how Memmy displays the content, or a bug with how the bot posts, or if it’s just an inconsistency or whatever, but I thought someone might want to know to make some changes.

Another kink to think about is what if you have different communities with the same name on different servers with completely different content. Like what if the trees subreddit came to a server and created a marijuana themed community called trees, but then another server wanted to discuss actual trees so they called theirs trees too. Wouldn’t want those two being grouped together automatically.

I just wish I could access my account settings, which look like they are stored on the server instead of the app I use. I had already blocked several hundred communities that I wasn’t interested in and I don’t look forward to re-blocking them again (ok, maybe I look forward to it just a little bit, I might have a problem)

Dude, this sucks. I signed up for a couple of instances, but that was my main one.

So if it’s gone and unable to come back are all those comments and posts we made there just gone?
