For Tuesday slop night the visual cuisine is the last episode of Mlaatr season 1 and the first 2 episodes of Sopranos season 2, a show about the Italian mob in New Jersey. Season 1 ended with Tony's mother instigating an assassination attempt on her own son with the help of Uncle Junior. This was the result of Livia learning about Tony seeing a therapist, seeing her son in a severely depressed state, and Tony mocking Junior for performing oral sex on a woman.

We delved into Tony's childhood and psyche thanks to multiple sessions with Dr Melfi: Tony has a fascination with ducks that landed in his pool that probably represent his family and his fear of losing them due to his life in organized crime; Tony had a very poor childhood with abusive and neglectful parents - while he ends up essentially being forced to admit his mother is horrible at the end of season 1, he is much more hesitant to view his father in a similar light despite admitting that his father's favorite "child developmental tool" was the belt.

Both of Tony's children are now aware of his life in organized crime to an extent, with Meadow directly asking him on a road trip and AJ coming to a realization after a kid in a schoolyard fight backs down due to his father's line of work in waste management (with some help from his older sister, too). Carmella had multiple moments of disgust with Tony due to his constant cheating and just general poor behavior.

The Battle for Moscow is a 1985 Soviet war movie about the 1941 Battle of Moscow, it was "a Soviet-East German-Czechoslovak-Vietnamese co-production directed by Yuri Ozerov who also wrote the script," and "It was made in time for the 40th anniversary of the Allied victory over Nazi Germany. "

"Evergreen" and not something that will be irrelevant after the next news cycle

Climate change will remain relevant for the rest of our lives and its relevance will most likely only increase from here on out.

Have a transparent background to the greatest degree possible.

yes

Display a clear emotion or purpose

Gallows humor in the same vein as microplastics-cool and covid-cool

Furthermore, it is named -cool to be in line with microplastics and covid, however one of (if not the) primary concerns with climate change is rising temperatures. The name itself further propels the joke.

Formatted in PNG, GIF, or SVG to make our file optimization cycles easier. If svg initially, send svg in a seperately hosted link to WhyEssEff. Same with gif, as we render them as mp4 IIRC.

If applicable (and it most likely will be), post body should include a suggested category and a comment should contain any other categories it may fit in with, for the benefit of our rss feeds

For this Tuesday night the visual cuisine is more Mlaatr and The Nanny starring Fran Drescher. My Life as a Teenage Robot is a legendary anime made by Rob Renzetti about a teenaged robot superhero, her friends, and her attempts at a normal human life in the face of multiple planetary threats. Mlaatr has a prominent character voiced by Eartha Kitt and uses the art deco style, reminiscent of the '20s. Each episode is actually split into two smaller episodes so we are actually getting four :bko-joy:

The Nanny is a sitcom about Fran Fine being hired as a nanny by a Broadway play producer and subsequently brightening their lives. Goofs, gaffs, and gabagools ensue as their two worlds collide. We are going to actually watch the first few episodes tonight instead of a few random ones :sailor-oops:

Nanny

content warnings:

Mlaatr:

  • Depictions of bugs
  • The protagonist prefers a different name to the one given to her by her mom in the first episode, however both are used throughout the show by different characters. Her given name is generally used in a more formal manner by authority figures and her preferred one more casually by her peers. She responds to both and after the first episode generally seems to not be bothered by it.
  • Jokes about weight
  • Explosions
  • Cartoon violence, primarily involving robots and alien monsters.
  • The protagonist regularly loses limbs but she is a robot
  • The protagonist practically dies or experiences a near death experience in one episode.

Unlike anime from Japan, there isn't really anything excessively grotesque nor is there a theme of :tony-disappointed2: moments.

Nanny:

  • Alcohol abuse

Despite being a war movie, there does not appear to be any blood or gore. It's also on youtube without an age gate so it's most likely pretty safe.

Nanny

content warnings:

  • Mentions of dead animals but never shown
  • Shaving
  • Someone suffocates someone with a pillow but it is done comically, not graphically
  • Cheatings
  • A parent dies
  • Shower scene
  • Copaganda
  • A prominent character that is the butt of a lot of jokes may be depressed
  • Body dysmorphia
  • Someone mentions suicide
  • Depictions of anxiety attacks
  • Jokes about weight
  • Mentions of sex
  • Car crash

Battle for Moscow:

  • Depictions of violence but no blood/gore
  • War
  • Nazis and nazi imagery
  • Gun violence
  • Death

Despite being a war movie, there does not appear to be any blood or gore. It's also on youtube without an age gate so it's most likely pretty safe.
