Yeah it's extreme. That thing looks ready to fall apart at any time, not to mention how lousy the accuracy has to be!

I want to add Fermilab as a quality physics channel as well, easy to follow and Don Lincoln is entertaining to listen to.

I'd go for single mode, since it's usually the same price, if not cheaper. You'll probably need a fiber splicing machine (and a couple or four splice protectors, depending if you use single fiber or duplex) and a splice box on both ends.
