It's kind of like this: I just want it to be possible to smoke weed and be still gainfully employed. Even if Harris gets up on stage and starts spouting bullshit about Jewish space lasers, I'm still voting for her. Even if a bunch of people get hella pissed off that jewish space lasers aren't a smart use of tax dollars I'M STILL VOTING FOR HER because political issues that effect me are, to me, the more important ones.

In reality it wouldn't matter even if that's the plan. Building space lasers is still a less destructive thing to do to our society than all the utterly corrupt shit Trump and his goonlings want. I just need the bad guys to lose. We all do. Even if it's just this once.

I had time to play some video games today. So I opened Sea of Thieves. After taking a fucking ETERNITY downloading all the latest update data at 40% of my actual network speed, it finally runs. It then crashes due to some bogus error. I run it again AND IT HAS TO REVERIFY ALL 113GB OF THE INSTALLED FILES ALL OVER AGAIN AT NETWORK SPEEDS.

How the fuck do people who live in cities and places with bandwidth caps deal with this" "Oh shit I gotta pay $30 in bandwidth overages because my game crashed and it has to verify again". WTF? Imagine having to wait en entire month for your bandwidth limit to rollover so you can try launching a game again to see if it still crashes. I've blown through 400gb of bandwidth in the past 2 days just trying to find a game in my library I can play that doesn't do this as badly.

This problem is not limited to sea of thieves. Skyrim is a fun game. I never get to play it because steam has to reverify the entire install every other fucking time I open steam.

All i'm saying is that the absurd install size of modern games along with the constant forced updates makes everything too much of a pain in the ass to be worth dealing with. I guess moving forward only GOG games are still viable in the era of enshittification.

Why can't steam just give us the ability to circumvent verifications.. fuck.

How do I install a python language server in doomemacs? (lemmynsfw.com)
 

I must be missing something. I've been trying for too long to figure out how to get a language server in emacs, specifically for python, but at this point I'd be happy to see anything work. I am so fucking sick of following written online tutorials that never work but I need to use something other than vs code, so the "trying to get emacs to fucking work" effort will continue.

I gave up on regular emacs because there seems to be no way to install lsp-mode on it. doomemacs seems to be a more refined easy-to-use version and has a working package manager so I started using that. I finally did manage to get lsp-mode installed in doomemacs but that's just the first step of what is a convoluted multi-step process and I don't know what to do next.

Can someone link me to a definitive, actually working, actually correct video tutorial of how to get a language server on doomemacs?

I get being mean to walmart because corporations are bad but being needlessly rude to random employees rubs me the wrong way. Most of us can't get a job anywhere better despite having a degree. We have to deal with the mental abuse of people constantly treating us like dog shit just because we exist. The job situation is so fucked right now. I should not be having to compete with people that have masters degrees and decades of experience for tech support jobs that pay $15 an hour. Fuck this broken society.

The last time I was not underemployed was 2018.
