Do people have to drive all the way across the country every single day? The size of the country does not dictate its dependency on the automobile. North American cities were walkable before the car and they can be walkable again. Car dependency is a result of policy not the size of the country.

Worker coops are wildly underappreciated. I'm a big fan of "workers' right to first refusal". If a business owner is selling, the workers have a given amount of time to match that offer and buy it themselves.

OP, you put wayyy too much thought into this piece of clickbait. I'm not saying your points are wrong, but Business Insider is pretty much accepted as tabloid trash today. Giving it this much time (and another share!) is only helping whatever stupid cause they have.

I've read some reviews saying and the consensus is that they suck for hosting.

But I'm wondering how decent they are with their consumer products. At face value, the free tier seems like a pretty sweet google replacement.
