With a little luck, things like Graphene could be that 3rd option, sort of.

The big problem is Android doesn't require a standard BIOS like PCs ended up with. So hardware drivers have to be developed/released by the hardware vendor (which they generally don't publish them).

The problem is this was snuck in, there was no transparency.

If it's an improvement for users, wouldn't you be making a big deal of it?

That tells me all I need to know.

There are players in this space that from the start saw the opportunities to track people.

We discussed this stuff at work in the mid-90's. If us little IT geeks saw it then, surely the major players were already working on plans for more than we could imagine.

If it's such a great thing for users, why isn't Mozilla shouting from the rooftops how they've improved things, instead of it being enabled automatically?

You're just supporting the point.

Then why aren't they putting it up front and shouting from the rooftops about the new "privacy protecting feature"?

You're not going to find an AV that doesn't flag modifications as virus/malware. That's kind of the definition of malicious behaviour by a program.

Hell, Windows itself will overwrite changes you make to certain exscutables/dll's, etc, with its own file protection system.

Test your cracks in a VM. Then use them as needed, or do the cracking in a VM.

I don't see anywhere that was said.

And test in a VM if you really want to be sure.

Cracks modify executables...classic malware/virus behaviour. Almost the definition of malware.

Which is why windows uses a file protection system since at least XP

Nothing wtf here. Asphalt is soft (which is why it's quieter than a concrete road).

Something narrow/sharp like the base of the stand will sink in with weight on top.
