I have a dozen that run 12+ hours a day. I've had 1 fail in 5 years.

Don't buy cheap LEDs, and don't put them in enclosures that trap heat.

Agreed.

This is some of the best writing as to how/why/when cloud sucks.

I've shared it with my consulting friends, so they can more easily explain to (SMB) clients why cloud isn't necessarily a good answer.

Wait, that sounds libellous.

Made me actually laugh out loud

I disagree, and the second image (which is reversed vs the others) doesn't look any better. It's just as bad in it's own way.

Not yet, but maybe soon...(If we're lucky) 😁

This is the key - no universal (i.e. No open standard) BIOS like on PCs.

We need a BIOS war for ARM, and since Android has it locked down, there's little competition to push for it, unlike when DOS was trying to become the standard for minicomputers.

SSD only?

Look at Mr Moneybags over here. That would increase my cost about 400%

And no, I wouldn't recoup that in energy cost reductions, as my oldest NAS with ancient drives only draws a few watts 97% of the time.

Apparently a gin and tonic is the hardest fucking drink, because NO BARTENDER does it right.

Yea, hay is a generic term for grasses used as feed.

Yea, I like Resilio, but it's a battery and ram hog.

Syncthing should work fine for you.

Does your phone have some custom battery management? Some vendors do that, and it causes issues.

Fork works much better on Android, largely because it moves sync conditions into the individual sync jobs (what ST calls folders).
