I'm still pissed that my mother told me I wasn't allowed to play with my baby cousins or hold them after I turned 10 because I was a boy.

She still told everyone I was great with kids and would make a great parent one day despite the fact that she made it clear that showing affection to young family members as an boy was wrong.

I've done a lot of organizing with ND comrades and I'd consider myself one. While you'd probably be uncomfortable in a front-facing position, there's no reason why you can't do administrative work.

I prefer to do a vice-president role myself where I handle the organization of what needs to get done and have the bumps and delegations done by someone else.

I used to work at a gas station during the night shift. I got yelled at for reading because "I was being unproductive." Everything got done hours before my shift ended and no one in the morning ever complained. I started doing my work slower, wandered around pretending to sweep, and read in the backroom where they didn't have cameras and my manager thought I turned over a new leaf.

My job performance was considered better when I was away from my station dicking about looking busy compared to doing everything efficiently and reading while ready to deal with customers.

This is the first I've heard a claim that the US directly subsidizes other countries' healthcare.

The argument they're probably referring to is the idea that the US spends money to make the drugs and innovate while other countries just make them. Because US companies eat the cost of innovation, the prices in the US are higher.

Of course its all bullshit because a significant portion of new drugs are funded by the US government and then privatized for no real reason.

I remember when I got excited I found $5 and decided to get mushrooms for my stir-fry and some raspberries.

What's worse for me than the hurtful things people do to you is the fact that 99% will never reflect or see themselves as wrong.

After people hurt you in ways that never fully heal they just go on to live normal lives. Not even reflecting on the past, probably ending up just as happily as they would otherwise. Bullies and assholes don't live their lives in failure, most of them are quite successful. They wake up and live their lives without spending a single moment reflecting on the people they've hurt. And that's so much more painful than whatever action they did.

I am reminded of how the KPD getting its leaders murdered by Freikorps thugs during the Spartacist uprising

The liberals of the time supported and funded the Freikorps in doing this. You couldn't have prevented this by doing the German equivalent of "Vote Blue" Democrats would absolutely support and embolden the mobs if they formed today.

But many here have disagreed with me, and I need you to persuade me why I shouldn’t be afraid of Project 2025 at all. Even if the chance of that happening is 10%, I’m still not ready to gamble with it.

You should be afraid, but voting for Biden won't stop that. Even if it foiled their plans temporarily, which I doubt, you're only delaying the project by 2-4 years. There is no victory, just buying time.

I’m saying that we have to buy ourselves as much time as possible, even if it means strategic voting,

Time to do what? The left's height was probably around 2020 with Bernie. More time to see the decline of leftist politics? More time for people to become even hopeless? I honestly don't see any indication that waiting is going to do anything. We have less political power than even and I don't see that changing.

So boomers think that new music sounds like "just noise" and is only concerned with sex. So some guy took that weird song that kinda sounded like noise and captioned it "penis music" to make fun of boomers.

I swear I'm not a lib but the movie's ending is written absolutely horribly.

The basic defense of the ending is that the level of violence Sal and Raheem faced for their respective crimes was unfair. Sal got his property damaged, Raheem lost his life. I completely agree with this. It highlights an important disparity. HOWEVER, literally 5 minutes before Raheem is killed, he was trying to kill Sal for breaking his stereo.

The message I got from the movie was "Both of these characters got the karma they deserved. Raheem tried to murder someone over property and was murdered by the police. Sal destroyed someone's property and got his property destroyed."

I have no idea how they fucked up the ending this badly. All you had to do was have Raheem vandalize Sal's store instead of attempted murder.

Am I just interpretting this movie wrong? Is there a detail I'm missing? I sincerely doubt this was the intended effect but I can't see it any other was.
