Honestly? Not great. I have an eating disorder that's chipping away at my sanity and I've been off work more than I've been at work due to that, panic attacks and depression. I have to go back next week and I just don't care...like I gotta work to live but I don't give a fuck. Tempted to take some longer term leave but I'm not convinced it'll help so like...what do?

I'm medicated for the anxiety and depression, can't take benzos because of addictive nature (used to take recreational drugs and don't trust myself honestly) so what do I do? Persist and be unhappy? Can't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

All pretty good advice here! Just wanted to add that slow and steady unironically wins the race with this stuff. Radical changes are less likely to stick compared to slow, incremental change.

I started with Stronglifts 5x5 myself as well and it's a very uncomplicated program. I now do Push Pull Legs focusing on hypertrophy but what I've learned is that a program that you can stick to is the best one. It's easy to get lost in the sauce regarding optimising programs when really, going as much as you can and listening to your body will deliver changes.

One last thing - the lifting is important but sleep and nutrition is as well. The gym triggers responses in the body to build muscle and a lot of the actual physiological activity for muscle growth occurs while you sleep.

Good luck and good on you for wanting to get into it! You got this

Good advice right there ^^ unless they outlaw chanting from the river to the sea, I'm good haha.

Understood - just wanted to share the states view on it as I live here :)

The state government has changed laws to prosecute protests that aren't "approved" - specifically targeting climate protestors has been their MO but there were plenty of cops at the last Palestine one I went to itching to do their thing

Read his book about extremism in Australia recently, laughably depressing how backwards some of these removed are tbh

Don't have any advice but sending you a hug ๐Ÿซ‚

Yeah it really sucks. I've been lifting consistently for about 15 months and there's SO much junk content out there. Unless you are going to be a bodybuilder, just eat clean, progressively overload your weights and sleeeeep.
