Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra has claimed the AMPTP offer made to the actors union was “the best offer that has ever been made to the SAG-AFTRA group.” I…

With how many poison pills inside?

See posts from Will Wheaton and others on what creative accounting does to residual income. Ronald Reagan must be spinning like a top ATM.

Former Republican U.S. President Ronald Reagan certainly isn’t. He’s relishing in watching workers get fucked and having their rights stripped away.

Actor and former Democratic SAG President Ronald Reagan on the other hand.

Yeah, I was thinking the latter, but the former’s more realistic.

Didn’t realize he was sag president. I was sitting here thinking “the guy is who busted the air traffic controllers union is upset?”

Yep that’s the irony. He wasn’t even anti abortion until he ran for president. Even if he didn’t actually believe in the bullshit he spouted as president, him selling his soul is still a major reason why the United States is marathoning itself towards a Fascist dictatorship.

You just have to sign over your likeness forever.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Of course it was. That’s the nature of contracts. They are designed to allow workers to (hopefully) keep pace with inflation. By their very nature, contracts get better and better.

Ps. Also, how is “let us capture your likeness and use it forever as a skin for a CG puppet” the “best ever”?

Yeah, AI is killing tons of jobs, but there is no reason to let it without a fight.

Hey, Tony, I'll give you five bucks and a swift kick in the nuts for Sony. It's the best offer I ever made for it!

"We entered the talks intending to make a deal,” he said. “There have been lots of headlines saying the opposite, but that is not true. We want to get this done and we want on get back into negotiations…We need to get this settled. We want to get back around the table."

I smell his ass burning. Let give it another round in a microwave. Protesters are scarying a shitty person for once.

I wish they go down the drains with shit like this !

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Best ever made means slightly better than the previous one. It doesn’t mean it’s at good deal at all. My union (IATSE) got the best deal ever made and it doesn’t even adjusts for inflation!!!

Does Netflix, Hulu and all the streaming sites need to negotiate? Are they involved in this on the side of the studios?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I suspect this is occurring because everyone knows establishment media is dying and people are trying to get the nicest deck chair on the titanic.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It’s happening because inflation happens and things increase in price. If wages don’t keep pace, that raise is now a pay cut.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah it was great getting my 3% cost of living bump this year while inflation was 7%. Basically got a pay cut by working here.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’ve been vocal about our union tying our wage increases directly to inflation (or making them AT LEAST follow inflation). Some members (that also happen to own multiple houses) say that’s a “dumb idea”. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Gotta love people pulling the ladder up behind them

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago

If that's all it was, then they'd be able to pop out a pay increase and end things. There's a lot of other stuff on the table.
