"As we deliver more value to our members, we occasionally ask them to pay a bit more"
Bahaha More Value? I want some of what this guy's been smoking.
Welcome to /c/piracy
No netflix or streaming services landlubbers allowed, this is pirates territory.

Choose your Netflix Adventure:
But browsing for fifteen minutes and then deciding there's nothing you want to watch is the best part!
"There's nothing on TV" was our favourite evening pastime when I was growing up.
C
Also maybe add a movie to my list that I will never watch.
If you don't like it, don't pay for it. What's the problem here? I don't get why everyone gets so pissy about it.
Guys, my advice is to never use Stremio, it's a torrent streaming platform. It might take a few minutes to setup add on but it's still not worth it! What Netflix is doing is fair and people should deal with it!
*wink
If you care about your privacy and/or want a better experience use Jellyfin, and avoid this and Plex and other closed source streaming apps.
I'm a huge privacy advocate. I'm also a cheap bastard. Kodi, with Seren, with real-debrid and trakt. $16 for 6 months of everything.
Indeed! Definitely avoid the torentino add-on and just pay for all the different subscriptions totalling more than what cable costs these days. You're welcome.
The only reason I still even had Netflix was because my parents used my account. I canceled when they cracked down on sharing outside the home. What am I paying for 4 screens for if I can't use them elsewhere. So happy to be done with them and haven't missed it either.
Did they actually crack down anywhere? Still freeloading here. We get w warning now of then but always found a way around.
Here in Canada I got locked out of my account because I had a camp job. I had to either pay to use it at home and at camp or choose one or the other. So I cancelled. That was around March it happened. Fuck Netflix.
Similar story here. I work away from home for months at a time and I got locked out of using it on all my devices. Fuck Netflix.
I'm on the east coast US and my parents told me they couldn't get Netflix anymore because they needed a log in code that was getting sent to my email. It took a few months after the announcement, but they have def started rolling it out
Same. The only reason to keep a consistent subscription was because I was sharing it. Now I'm subscription free!
I have it free through T-Mobile and still use my Plex server for any movies on Netflix because I can get 4k BluRay quality. Hell, you can even request that the torrent download start to end effectively letting you stream it. Make sure to only do that on healthy torrents though because it's awful for the health of smaller torrents.
The endless profits just aren't endless enough!
The worst thing is that people are actually paying to see ads. like, what the fuck.
The thing I hate to see is where you CAN'T pay to get rid of ads, like they won't let you buy a thing straight up. They're like "watch it free (with ads)" and that's the only option -- many things on Prime that used to have purchase options. That made me cancel and start collecting DVDs.
People have been paying to see ads for years. Amazon has had it for at least half a decade, Hulu had it before that (though much more limited in scope). Ad-supported is not a new thing. It's just Netflix was relatively good at one point, before every media company and their uncle wanted a bigger slice of the pie.
People have been paying for cable for decades.
You're not paying to see ads. They're just subsidizing the cost of the service.
The ad-aupported tier is more profitable than Standard.
If you just want the numbers:
Starting today, Netflix is raising the price of both the Basic and Premium plans in the US, UK, and France. Those members still on the Basic plan will start paying $11.99, marking a $2 increase, while the Premium tier jumps from $19.99 to $22.99. UK subs will now pay £7.99 and £17.99 for Basic and Premium, respectively, while French prices are 10.99€ and 19.99€.
The prices of Netflix's $6.99 ad-supported plan and the $15.49 Standard tier remain unchanged.
🏴☠️
My Wife and I talked about this price increase and we're cancelling. If they ever get around to releasing Stranger Things or Wedneaday we'll sub for a month to watch them. Or Aarr!
They'll just start releasing one episode a week.
Then we'll sub after it has been fully released and binge.
Do they not already do this? In fact I know they've done exactly this for multiple Netflix original shows.
"Our starting price is extremely competitive with other streamers and at $6.99 per month in the US, for example, it's much less than the average price of a single movie ticket."
Ah yes
You know, movie tickets! Those things that haven't had cultural relevance in years, that nobody actually fucking wants to deal with, but movie studios make shit-tons of up front cash on them so we're forced into waiting through theatrical exclusivity if we have zero interest in watching movies while surrounded by other assholes?
Totally an excellent comparison, given that the last movie I saw in a theater was IT. The first part. And I didn't pay for the ticket.
Remember when everyone said netflix would die after password sharing ended?
I did my part and never signed up 🤷♀️
No, I don't.
My family pays for all the major services... but honestly I stopped watching. It is just waaaayyy to much stuff to care about.
I decided that I will only subscribe to things that are unique and have yearly subscriptions. So, that means Criterion Channel, Shudder, Dropout, and Nebula. As a student I get a discount for some of these, and I am paying Youtube Premium because as much Google sucks, YouTube is like UNESCO world heritage sight. Infinite value and priceless.
Putlocker hasn't increased their prices. 🤷♂️ Just saying.
hey man if people will pay then why not.
