Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Residents of Brechin may need to be evacuated as exceptional rainfall from Storm Babet threatens to breach flood defences in the town.

The warning comes into effect at 18:00 and now covers an area stretching from southern Aberdeenshire and Angus to the outskirts of Dundee and Perth.

Residents have been warned of a danger to life from fast flowing or deep floodwater and extensive flooding to homes and businesses.

Train and bus services in the affected areas have already been cancelled and driving conditions are likely to be treacherous because of spray and flooded roads.

Mr Lardet said he was particularly concerned this could happen overnight into Friday, with a decision on a possible evacuation likely to be made on Thursday afternoon.

A Met Office spokesperson said affected areas could see more than a month's worth of average rainfall within 24 hours.
