Trying to figure out the best way to set up my ASUS AiMesh home network, and looking for a little guidance. I see a lot mentioned about obviously the best case scenario having an ethernet backhaul to a wired AP for minimal latency and bandwidth loss, however I do also see mentioned that if you have a tri-band router you can use the third channel for wireless backhaul with a dedicated channel helping reduce some of the issues that exist in a wireless only setup.

My question is, to fully take advantage of this, do both devices that exist in the AiMesh setup need to be tri-band or just the router connected to the ONT for my internet? Looking to replace a standard ASUS wifi extender that was gifted to me initially with an actual router/AP but do not need to know if a dual-band device suffices or if tri-band is needed. Any advice or help is appreciated!
