Hello,

I am facing a strange networking issue since some time and just can't figure out what causes it.

Every now and then my PC loses the connection to all other devices / the whole network it is connected to. But I just can't figure out why it happens. The problems is limited to my PC (PC A in the network diagram).

I first noticed the issue when running Ubuntu it seems to affect my Windows installation on the same machine as well now. However it could just be another issue with the same effect.

The issue seems to go away after a while when running Windows, but it usually occurred sporadically throughout the whole day when running Ubuntu.

The ethernet cable is connected straight to the port on my mainboard. Using a USB network adapter resolves the issue, but I still want to get it fixed if possible to not rely on that workaround. The port on my mainboard is a 2.5G port.

I've setup a static IP address in Windows and Ubuntu. I also configured my Router (which is also wifi access point, DHCP server and switch) to not hand out any IP addresses in that range. 192.168.178.20 - 192.168.178.80 is DHCP. The PC in question is set to 192.168.178.241.

When the issue appears, it is not possible to ping any device other than localhost anymore. It is also not possible to ping my PC from another machine on the network. All other network connections seem to be working fine.

E.g.

Can not ping Server (192.168.178.5), Router (192.168.178.1) or sth in the internet (1.1.1.1) from PC A.

Can still ping Server (192.168.178.5), but not PC A (192.168.178.241) from my Phone or Raspberry Pi.The issue is resolved at least for some time when unplugging and reconnecting the ethernet cable as well as deactivating and reactivating the network adapter in the Windows control panel.

I tried updating to the most recent driver version yesterday and didn't encounter the problem throughout the day again, but it popped up first thing in the morning.

I also switched out the Ethernet cable between PC A and the closest switch but it didn't make any difference.
