šŸ§VPN does not offer a system-wide kill switch if you download it from their website!:

On macOS, šŸ§VPN offers two versions: one you download directly from their website (the sideload version) and another from the Mac App Store.

The Mac App Store version is limited in features due to Appleā€™s restrictions, while the sideload version from šŸ§VPNā€™s website offers more advanced features like Threat Protection Pro and the ability to pause the connection. But thereā€™s a catch: it doesnā€™t include a system-wide kill switch!

Meanwhile, the Mac App Store versionā€”despite being stripped of many featuresā€”does include a system-wide kill switch. So how does it make sense that the version downloaded directly from their website, which offers more features, doesnā€™t even have a kill switch?

Hereā€™s a breakdown based on what their support said:

šŸ§VPN (Downloaded from their website):

  • Threat Protection Pro: āœ… Includes anti-malware, advanced browsing protection, ad and tracker blocker
  • Pause feature (including a timed pause): āœ…
  • System-wide kill switch + advanced kill switch: āŒ Only offers app-level kill switch, which terminates specified apps if the VPN connection drops, preventing unprotected traffic.

šŸ§VPN (Downloaded from the Mac App Store):

  • Threat Protection Pro: āŒ Only offers DNS filtering
  • Pause feature: āŒ
  • System-wide kill switch + advanced kill switch: āœ…

Why on earth does the version downloaded from their website, which is the one most people choose and isnā€™t restricted by Apple, lack the system-wide kill switch and advanced kill switch?!

I asked them and all they could say was:
