Ive never really pirated anything but i came across a video earlier that explain how if you really wanna be secured, youd buy a used laptop from some office space + a vpn, and then use that to download you media. Is that overkill though? Would i be fine with my macbook and a vpn? Assuming id need a vpn at minimum.

If i were to snag a used laptop, would transferring said media from there to an external hard drive be “at risk” of anything? Am i overthinking?
